... he just knew the name, so our group of 10 set out to find this "amazing" bar. In the end it took us about an hour and a half to get there, asking for directions several times and getting caught in the pouring rain for a large chuck of the journey. Walking into the bar was an experience all on its own. In this "amazing" bar you could smoke but there was absolutely no ventilation... At all! The air was polluted with cigarette smoke, which has never been an issue ...

... t much fun but the city is beautiful with the variety of architectural epochs. It is much grittier and has a more lived in feel than the Austrian cities. There is trash on the streets, graffiti everywhere and evidence of rebuilding after the communist rule. They have embraced capitalism wholeheartedly and there is shopping from low to high end everywhere. If they can make a buck off the tourists, they do.

They have that particular attitude in the tourist ...

We walked back through the old town. We had a good laugh at what was in some of the stores. I was laughing at the alcohol and special tobacco stores, we had to go in for a look, turns out they did sell special tobacco, special tobacco chocolate and lolly pops, I thought that was an Amsterdam thing. We noticed these stores everywhere. We did buy a bottle of Absinthe, more on that later, no Mum, we didn't buy anything else. There ...

... beginning to sprinkle with the threat of a downpour. We headed back to Lesser Town and down to the riverbank of the Danube to a restaurant overlooking the river and the Charles Bridge. ... wide variety of quality beers. Again the prices were great; We could sit down at a restaurant or beer garden and get a good pint for 25-30 CZK or $1.25 to $1.50. Needless to say, we sampled more beers here than anywhere else. I wanted to stay longer, but Amanda would be the first to tell you that she didn't like Prague initially.
