Buenos Aires .... Once Again

A travel blog entry by phillipsquared

After taking considerably longer to get from Montevideo to Buenos Aries we arrived in the dodgy area La Boca just as it was getting dark. We tried to get a bus but we came across no friendly drivers willing to take us without travel cards. It's rather frustrating here that they will not take cash on the bus, thankfully though sometimes a kindly …

Buenos Aires Here We Are Again

A travel blog entry by phillipsquared

As we had already visited BA before, getting ourselves to our hostel was easy, we knew where the metro was and where to go. After sorting ourselves out at the hostel it was a quick dash out of the door to find an Optician to finally get Chris some new glasses. Luckily we were able to get a copy of his prescription sent to us from Australia and we …

La Pequena Europa y El Grande Bistec: BuenosAires

A travel blog entry by paiger

Apparently Argentina is the Europe of south america, or something like that. Well, I'd have to say no, it's not. It's pretty, it's more European than Chile, but European? No. Mostly because in Europe you don't have to worry that much about getting randomly offed in the streets. While in Uruguay, where I was awkwardly mugged if you'll recall …

Buenos Aires, final report!

A travel blog entry by sanderkrols

Mijn spaanse lessen vielen best mee. Veel gemakkelijker …

A fitting finale

A travel blog entry by busbydawson2012

It was hard to leave Patagonia, but we wanted to see a couple more places in Argentina before going home so headed north to Mendoza. It was another gruelling journey, with a 16 hour ovenight bus to Santiago followed by another 8 hours in a second bus.

Mendoza is a lovely city, with wide tree-lined avenues, leafy plazas and a nice, laid- …

Great little hostel in the San Telmo area. It was close to all the tourist attractions for our needs and you could either eat out nice or grab a delicious empanada around the corner. The staff are helpful and dorms and beds comfy. Just hope you don't get a bed with a plastic sheet underneath as it makes a noise every time you move! Simple breakfast yet effective.
