Antigua

Hola!

... kite would come crashing to the ground, normally into a group of on-lookers ... it was very entertaining.

After a few minutes of ridiculing their attempts we decided to show them up, buy our own kites and send them flying. It ended in pretty much the same fashion. I really have no better way of explaining it than just showing you the video we took. Its attached to this blog entry, ha, enjoy.
hasta luego,
Andy

4 weeks of Spanish studies and now...

... laughed at it. Finally, even before attending the school I paid for the 4 weeks – including the home stay – up front. I paid USD 120 for the 25 lessons per week and USD 80 for the home stay. When I paid the money, Mario also made me sign a document, where it said that I would get no refund for days or hours lost – not even if I decided to downgrade from 25 to e.g. 20 lessons per week. I did find this somewhat odd, but decided not to make fuzz ...

LAVA!!!! MALTEN MAGMA!!! UNFORGETTABLE!!!

... on fire. The liquid in my eyes was disappearing, and I had to keep closing my eyelids because the eyes themselves burned (I kept opening them again because I wanted to see the lava through the whips of steam). This time I don’t think I even lasted twenty seconds. For the next hour I just ...

Volcanoes and hidden rivers...

... this tour was an excursion to the Mona Caves.. we should have known how dangerous this was going to be after our active volcano tour... but this was beyond crazinesss.... never mind signing a disclaimer... we should have signed a suicide note..... we were told to wear our swimsuits and shoes... we were each given a candle and sent to our doom... firstly a family of bats fly alround us, then suddenly we are totally submerged in freezing cold water... climbing over rocks ...

Volcano's are hot, hot, hot.

... something akin to clown pants, and while still being held up by my belt, were somewhat of a nuesense when trying to go through airport security and after a scare at Lima airport (yes I was going Commando, what of it?) I thought it was only (ill)fitting to give them a proper farewell, at the hands of my trusty scissors . To celebrate, later night we ate subway, which unfortunately didn’t agree with me, I woke up dry reaching and in need of an urgent trip to the toilet, I was ...

Antigua News Update 1

... flowing freely through my nostrils.Youpiii! And to further reassure you: no swine flu here! The chemistry between Antigua and I is not really there butI love my volunteer work with children in a day-care center, which I'll soon write about. In addition, I must confess that it is here, not Xela, that I discovered the cuisine of Guatemala. And that is the subject of my post today. To eat local cuisine, it is best to avoid ...

Test of my patients..... again!

... I made it over the border after paying a guy to help me get all the paperwork done. He saved me a lot of time and it made things more interesting. I say interesting because I ended up almost causing a fight and got the police involved. LOL. Long story short, I was getting over charged and some guy told me to ask the cop what he thought, so I did. Then the two guys started ...

Pacaya, climb the active volcano!

... molten lava beneath the rocks to the left, front and right of me. It was then that I smelt my soles melting!. It was hotter than hell there! I looked back and saw another guy, that actually had a guide vest on, a whistle, and a radio. He was waving his hands back and forth in front of his body in a message that said STOP! Don't go there! I immediately back tracked and he showed me a better way to skirt the hot zone. I was soon at the summit of this ...
