We found a great YHA hostel at Port Stephens, complete with its own bit of rain forest, swimming pool and bush kitchen. Having spent several nights in shared dorms recently we spoilt ourselves and had a deluxe bush cabin to ourselves.

The owners are friendly, helpful and welcoming and keep this hostel very well. Rooms & facilties are very clean, outdoor kitchen and 'the shed' games room are fab
Lovely location in the forest, very nice natural surroundings. We didnt have a car but not a problem as bus stops outside and takes you to all the nice areas around Port Stephens (Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay etc).. just find out times from reception
Loved it here and would highly recommend.. go!
