... was mega-simple though - walked in, didn't even need to log on to one of the for-public-use computers as the girl in charge set up hers quickly for me instead; three minutes, cost about 20 stotinki (8p)! On my way back I stopped at a fruit & vegetable market and bought Mum a bag of cherries.

At lunchtime we were due to catch the bus to Veliko Tarnovo, but we managed to fit quite a lot into the morning.

The first place we went was another gorgeous National Revival house (the Old Town is full of them). ... we climbed in bit didn't drive off.
It was our last stop in Bulgaria and all in all we really liked the place. Didn't have as much hassle from police on the road as we had been led to believe and the people were pretty friendly. Would definitely recommend it as a travel destination. Out of all the cities so far Sofia and plovdiv are the best in our opinion and the mountains are amazing in beauty.

... such a different culture from the US that I spent most of my time there parsing these differences rather than focusing on the rest of my trip. Arriving in the next place and realizing I had a whole new culture to parse (and more along the way) was both scary and exciting. I was actually doing it! I was there and could still barely believe it.

I took a leisurely time getting ready. I was the only guest in the whole hostel, and really enjoyed not having to worry about hogging ...
