Dag iedereen!
Onze eerste dag in Cusco is rustig verlopen. Op het eerste zicht deed de stad ons een ...
We left Puno at 11 and had a good bus for our trip to Cusco. It just ended up taking longer than we anticipated and we arrived in Cusco at 8pm. We werent planning on arriving until Friday night so we had no hostel booked and just chose the first one we could find. We had dinner and then went to bed. The next day we got to explore the city. Cusco is definately one of the best cities we have seen so far. It has a very impressive Plaza de Armas where most of the action takes place. There are ton...
Cusco, Peru bharris4After an awesome, expensive train ride, we arrived in Aguas Calientes, at the foot of Machu Picchu. We thought we were organised in that we had some one collect us at the station when we arrived, only to find out that it involved having a girl walk us across the road and up the hill. Rather nice room with fantastic mountain views from our window. Unfortunately this town is the connection point for anyone going up to Machu Picchu, so as expected this town is VERY tourist orientated and prices ...
Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Peru bouhausHello all! So here we are in beautiful Cusco...very very different from Colombia in so many ways! Glancing at the streets from the taxi ride to the hostel the idenginous culture of Peruvians was evident in the way people dressed and the streets lined with markets with hanging meats, colorful woven blankets, and straw baskets!! I love it already! Heather and I were a bit tired when arriving from all the traveling and the altitude makes you feel a bit hazy...but not to worry...one cup of coco t...
Cusco, Peru btastingerNot much to say for this entry. We arrived by night bus (resulting in a complete absence of sleep as usual), and only stayed a single night in Lima before moving on. We stayed in the Miraflores area, which is meant to be one of the nicest areas of the city, although we weren´t that impressed. However, I have to admit that we were going through a ´lazy phase´and decided not to visit any of the museums or churches, but instead went to see The Hulk (part II) at the cinema during which we slurped...

I arrived in Cusco July 26th. It is a nice city, very pretty, quite large and shockingly much colder than Arequipa. I was cold for about the first three days until the weather got just a bit warmer. The hostel I am staying at is nice; it has very hot showers with good water pressure which is wonderful. Cusco was a little overwhelming for me though because it is very touristic and I am officially not a good tourist. I mean I don’t really like museums and I can’t stand the bus thing...
Cusco, Peru, Peru jnsheer805Sitting in the Lima airport waiting for a flight to Cusco I met a Miguel who was on his way to Sao Paulo Brazil to take a new job. He had decided to stop through Cusco for a week or so. He and I chatted for quite a while before jumping on the airplane and once we arrived in Cusco we shared a taxi to the hostel for which he already had a reservation. The hostel was sweet but definitely more expensive then I was thinking to pay. I´m glad I stayed though it was filled with backpackers from every...
Cusco, Peru joel.madsenWe arrived by train to Aguas Calientes, found a hostel and then walked down river to Mandor Falls. It was nice to get out and hike again and we ended up at a pretty sweet water falls. On the way to the falls we walked down the railroad tracks along the river, past the sign for MP, orchids and other wild flowers then we got to a gate for the Mandor Falls. 10 soles to enter....what the....I was not too excited but we´d hiked for 2 hours or so so I wasn´t about to turn around. The evening was sp...
