New Zealand - Piha Well we did finally arrive! Unfortunately we had to bi-pass Tonga as we had only planned two days there and due to our flight leaving Samoa 50 hours late, our connecting flight had already left before we arrived! Never mind these things are sent to try us. Still we are here now and New Zealand is looking very green on account that it is spring, their summer starts in December so the seasons are dead opposite to the northern hemisphere. I understand from folks back in the UK...
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand andyfreshwaterSaying goodbye is never easy. Especially when we know how slim our chances of returning to NZ in the foreseeable future are. We arrived in Auckland focused on selling Gazer and knowing that the car market at this very end of the travel season is a buyer's market. We knew we should allow a few days for the sale and should lower our expectations, but since we found the Far North a bit more interesting than selling a van, we arrived with only four days to spare and with a "For Sale" sign naively...
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand gilliguy... drive the van - pics will be up asap - they are quality. However this is the reason that i missed my Magic bus which took me to the Bay of Islands.....
The next morning i was meant to wake up at 7am and woke up at 8am, Damn. So went to reception and the tour guide was there and asked to be put onto todays tour as i missed my bus. Saw all my mates on the trip who obviously didnt expext to see me and the tour guide gave me alot of stick all day for missing my bus ...
... restaurant called Manuka and had some seriously good grub. We also hit up a local bar called Neighborhood with some of their friends in the evening. Monday night was my last night in NZ and I had wanted to see bex parents one last time before I left, once again we headed over there for dinner and to say our goodbyes.
I can't wait to go back to New Zealand I left many friends both old and new there and cherish all the experiences I had.
... a shock to the system!
My Expression of Interest for NZ residency has been "selected" which is good news, as that is the first part of the process. If they are happy with my form they will invite me to apploy for residency (fingers crossed). I've also had a call from the Estate Agent yesterday and the house in the UK has had an offer, which is also good news....assuming it gets accepted etc, etc.
When we have found a new home we'll upload some photos.

... tomorrow night - wherever that will be. And it feels good. Apart from the **** weather - the people seem ultra friendly. I'm sure it will all work itself out. No pics - nothing worth photographing here (and I forgot the camera today). So - that's you all up to date. More news please - your e-mails are becoming few and far between and well, quite frankly, that isn't good enough. On my iPod Grey - Dave Matthews Band
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand codownsean... an odd twang. But we do feel a slight difference although we have only been here only 24 hours. Auckland is a very calm and civilised city; very well dressed, well spoken, organised and cool. Not to compare, but the looks and feel are somewhere between Sydney for the harbour and Adelaide for the athmosphere, so we are actually rather fond of Auckland. We got to our hotel very late, they call it the graveyard flight, as we got here at 2am and actually ...
Auckland, New Zealand lctd... adorable to walk past. Despite all the exotic animals on display one of the cutest things we saw were some baby chickens with their mother just in the middle of the pathway. They seemed to be working out the pecking order and we think the black one might be slightly dominant ;) (OR very very hungry!). With all the animals available to enjoy and admire we ended up spending a good 4 hours in the zoo without even counting the 2 hours of the tour. We slept REALLY well that evening :D
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand wolftrails... saying things like, "I told you so" and "Don't break it". The second race was a lot faster, but we only got one round in because the boats for the Louis Vuitton race were coming in and we had to get out of their way. However, we did get to watch the beginning of that race from the water in our boats. Very cool. During the second race the wind was much stronger and we were heeling over so far that water was coming in over the sides of the boat (and Dad had thought that there was not ...
