... England and France beneath the English Channel). The next part of our journey was about two hours and we arrived in Sendai even more exhuasted than we did in Hakodate.
We were able to overcome our fatigue and head for the island of Matsushima, listed as one of the three most beautiful places in Japan. Our first order of ...
Kumamoto, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan nienke78... quickly and made "like a fish" back to the main path. Unfortunately the town is that small that there is only 1 restaurant which remained closed all day. That night - despite staying in a relatively expensive Ryokan, recently refurbished with all mod cons - we ended up eating pot noodles from the garage down the road - talk about reining the budget in!! Great place to spend a couple of days though having the ability to cook would have helped.
Aso, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan sheerin09... 3 visitors in an area that was thought to be safe, and wrecked the cable car completely. It was an impressive site; at the moment the cone has hot turquoise water, steaming away, the surrounding rocks are red and yellow, the place surrounded in black sand. I walked around the rim and had another lovely bento box lunch. I then headed back down the hills to the Aso Volcanic Museum www.asomuse.jp I'm not sure when it opened ...

Her family is super nice. Her brothers are very cute theres yuchan who is 10 and kyoichi who is 13. Her mother and father are soo nice. Kumamoto, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan jakie_1... Photos & prices of food before you enter a restaurant. -Nice NICE people. ******************* Oh Japan, so glad i came to see what you're all about. It's very hilly here, and I've come to like being called Blian. I do struggle with complex slipper protocols in some places. Removing shoes at entrance, this I can understand. Ok - but then one pair of slippers for most rooms, but remove them for tatami (straw mat areas like for sleeping), and another pair ...
Nagasaki, Japan mondobri... on a piece of paper. Of course I had no idea what he was talking about to he only drew big landmarks that I would unerstand on the map. Armed with this map I thanked everyone and they all wished me "good luck". (They probably expected me to get Uber-lost). The catch to all of this was that it was 1900, and the place I needed to pick my package up from was only open until 2000. So I raced on what I believed to be the correct route for about 20 min. Thinking I was completely lost for ...
Kumamoto, Japan fernsies... few minutes, we stop at a Sapporo Beer Hall to have a round. They are playing country western music on the stereo. All three of us share feelings of being glad to be together again. And we have a good time talking about lots of subjects and enjoy our Sapporo dark beers before getting in a taxi back to campus. Dr. Yamada walks us to our Guest House and then hops on his bike to ride home. We don't make plans for tomorrow as we will probably stay in our room during the storm.
