... we walked around a little more and tried to get a glimpse inside some of the other churches. There were concerts going on, so you had to have a ticket to get in. We did see some beautiful chandeliers made out of the colored crystal through the doorway though.

... so much. It looked as eastern bloc on the inside as well as the outside. Wires were poking out of the walls, things were had a real "behind the iron curtain" feel to it! A lot of things in that part of town were like that. It wasn't a tourist area and some things are still transitioning......while others have transitioned so far into capitalism they aren't ever coming back.

... a highlight but Mum and Shareen thought it was creepy. Every decoration and ornament in the church was made of human bones. There was even a huge chandelier made of bones. It contains bones from around 40,000 people, many of them in huge decorative piles.

... We felt completely unwelcome in the sanctuary and quickly left. Fortunately at St. Nicholas church, photography was welcomed, people were invited in to look around, to sit and meditate or pray and the church had such a warm atmospher that we stayed there quite a while.
We were able to wander into many buildings and of course strolled for many hours today...5 hours of walking, a short rest and another couple and back ...
