Pretty crap room, very noisy and no window. We were shafted on the price as we had to pay double what was quoted us from a booking website. The member of staff there was not interested in our story and said if we didn't pay we'd be on the streets as all the hostels were booked up. He couldn't have cared less

Today was a rainy day and decided to go check out a big tourist attraction, the only castle in New Zealand built in the 1800's a man named William Larnach built this amazing castle for his wife, who died and he re married 3 times. His son Douglas committed suicide and some of the stories of this castle are very cool! So glad we did this! Such a beautiful place.

GR: After 9 nightshifts in the 12 days since I found my job, I was ready to experience some more of what New Zealand had to offer. As Ruari has also just started his job, we decided we could afford a cheeky wee weekend away to watch our new local rugby team play. We were off to Dunedin to watch The Highlanders take on The Crusaders. This was as …

After leaving the farm and Edendale (see previous posts) on the Nakedbus (everyone was fully clothed), it took about 3 hours to get back to Dunedin. We headed down Princes Street from the bus depot and our hostel, Penny's Backpackers, was about a five minute walk. We checked in before going to the New Indian Summer Restaurant for tea.It was really …

      Hello all,

A 6 hour journey south saw us 400km further down the south island (you could do that slightly quicker in england eh?) we had passed through many little towns and villages, including ashburton (my mums birthplace - so pretty cool to see that!). Anyway it was far better than the previous couple of journeys we had had. We pulled...
