Ambergris Caye

Hey, Sorry its bee so long since I've written, but the last few days have been kinda hectic. We left Livingston for Finca Tatni, this beautiful jungle hostel on the 4th and spent two nights there. It was quite the jungle hide away. Gorgeous though. We spent the 5th kayaking all da, and both got very very tired, particularly fighting the wind as we tried to come back. Saw a bunch of spiders, played some anagrams, saw a couple toucans, an otter and a parrot. Played a bit with a dog that can fin...

Scuba!

Hola from Scuba-ville! That's all we've been doing for the past three days, and its been very cool. I think the last time I wrote we were on our way to our night dive, which was just incredible. Incredibly incredible. We saw octopi (octopuses?), parking lots full of rays, tons of really big eels. In general it was just very good. Then we got up at 5 am the next morning and went on a trip out to the blue hole. If you don't know the blue hole used to be a cave, and the ceiling colapsed in. Then...

Welcome to the Island!

... t have to get off and could sail around more. Our captains found it highly amusing, but it didnīt work. Nonetheless, we give mad props to Ragamuffin Tours. They run a tight ship (haha) and the whole day was only $40. Highly recommended. We tried to watch the sunset again, but it was too cloudy this time. Then we went to the bar, made a lot of new friends, had a grand old time.. and were in bed by 9 pm. My kind of night. At least I made it home by 9 pm ...

... shark and some stingrays and lots of really big fish, they kinda all look the same after a while but I am sure we all look the same to them too. The water is warm and clear with the saphire, tourqoise colour that you only get in warm climates. We had lunch on a small caye ( that is an island to all of you who are wondering) Then off to a spot that they call an aquarium, and it ...

San Pedro - Days 4-6

... room fridge I continued on my way. Crazy Canuck's was as busy as usual, a mix of locals and tourists. I met a nice couple from the UK now living on the mainland, visiting San Pedro for the first time. We ended up having drinks all through the afternoon, even enjoying the storm that blew through around dinnertime. Much better than the snow storms I've had to endure at home. :-) Today is going to be just as low key. I ...

Disappointed at Crooked Tree

Unfortunately due to all the flooding in Belize the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary was closed. We only found this out after getting a lift along a dirt track for a mile and a half where we were met by a lake across the road! There was no transport back so a long walk for us with our backpacks in the midday sun....we really felt like backpackers! So decided to move on to the Cayes via Belize City...

Diving in Belize

... for our dive guide who was a worringly relaxed Belizean dude. On the bottom were lots of big fish which came quite close which was cool. The dive guide then led us along the reef where we saw some nurse sharks, approx 1-2 metres in length. We headed back to the boat when our air reached 1200 psi and ended up getting back on the boast on 250psi. I struggled a bit getting round the back of the boat to the otherside then taking my BCD off because the ...

... for her again. I finally looked all the way up to the surface and saw her floating up there. Erinn had learned a scary lesson when she lost track of her depth, got too high in the water, and ended up going through an out-of-control ascent to the surface as the air in her BC began expanding without being vented quickly enough. Luckily, it was a very short out-of-control ascent and she was alright. She was much better with her buoyancy control for the ...

Mexico to Belize

Made it to Cancun, Mx. Didn't do a lot besides a couple of nights on the booze and visiting Chitchen-Itza. Overall pretty poor! Went onto belize after a few days....much better. On the way to belize city in the bus, one of the back tires blew out! Not the best thing to happen in the countryside after dark. The bus driver pulled over, had a look and balled ...

... they showed us their house that's being built nearby. They wanted us to buy the lot next door and build our own house - but not so high that it would block their sunset view! It would definitely be cheaper. Then we went back and drank and talked some more. Met several of their friends and some other folks staying at the resort, including Scott and Marty from upstate New York. Great fun. My day started with a walk on the beach while Frank was still in bed. I walked up to "our beach house ...
