245 Rue La Fayette Paris, Île-de-France, France, 75010

Well the first time I ever went to Paris was a few weeks after my second belligerent year in Bad Durkeim during Winefest. I ended up losing both my digital camera AND my cell phone at Winefest so I had to buy disposables which were uber lame and not having a cell phone was very irritating. So anyway, I procrastinated way too long and could only get 1st Class tickets from Landstuhl -> Paris for around €196, which was then roughly $272 and my hostel cost me about €20 a night for tw...

Spanish spring break - it's a beautiful thing. 1 week off for the Semana Santa (Holy Week), 2 weeks of school, then another week break for the city fair - Feria de Abril. I spent last week making a tour starting in Paris then through England. I arrived in Paris on a rainy Thursday, and wasted little time - I ditched my luggage in my Hostel, met up with some new friends and went to the Musée d'Orsay. In the past this fantastic art museum was a train station - and it ha...
Even though I have already spent a good amount of time abroad, I had never stayed in a hostel. This weekend at the "Peace and Love" hostel would be my first. My wing man Hiral came along for the trip, and we were put in a room with Bryan and Toby from Australia. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the backpacker lifestyle. You instantly become friends with the other backpackers, and conversations never run dry with people from the other side of the globe. Oh ya, and we were in Par...
Paris, France biruvia Just a quick one people
Paris was really nice, met 3 Brissi boys at my hostel who were great blokes and great to be around, couple of pub crawls and an adventure to a popular french dance club called The Social Club and a trip to Sacre Ceour with some canadians which ended in a very messy but memorable night.
im currently typing from Berne in Switzerland, the best country men i think we've found so far. had an interesting night last night that involved 8 police, no sleep, a broken d...
After getting set into our beds, Dylan and me decided we were hungry and that was the first of our problems that we had to address. We walked doeçwn the reaod to a grubby little grocer, and bought some stuff for spagetti bolognese. I would have just called it spagetti and meat sauce, but with a culinary student as a fellow traveller, everything had to sound fancier and more appetizing. Dylan picked up a beer ate the extremely loud bar that was in the bottom of the hoste, whille I just watche...
Paris, Île-de-France, France dhrycunThe flight to Paris beat any domestic flight I'd ever been on. Probably 75% or more of the flight was french speaking. They served us food with wine, ice cream, etc. Hmmm, wine. I feel kind of dumb being 24 and not ever had wine. So I decided that wine served by a bunch of French guys. Well, my companion said it was good, but to me, it tasted like the vinegar solution that you use to dye easter eggs. By the end of my cup of wine, I was at least not wincing as I drank it. I could just feel the...
Paris, Île-de-France, France ditchthecubeThis morning started early with a trip out to the Palace of Versailles. It was really extravagent, and I can see why a lot of royalty ended up headless. The woman at the train station ticket counter sold us a global Versailles pass, and train fair there and back for 21E each. This probably saved us 20E at least. Everyone else at PV had to wait in line and purchase tickets for the activities while we just waved our pass at them and get let in like staff members. This is definetly a good deal. ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France ditchthecubeNigo (Malaysian friend), and I went early to climb the Eiffel. There was a huge line to ride the elevator to the top of the Eiffel, even at 10am. There was no line and only a 3E charge to climb the stairs, so we did that. It wasn't really that bad of a climb. Every so often there's a placard with some interesting tidbits to read and give yourself a rest. I must say, the tower is much larger in person than it seems in the pictures. It is massive, especially given when it was completed, 1889. T...
Paris, Île-de-France, France ditchthecubeAfter spending a while in Paris Nord station and realising that my GCSE French skills (feeble as they were in the first place) had deserted me completely, I headed off to the Peace & Love Hostel, only 10 minutes away by foot. I'd seen it recommended on a web page and the prices seemed good. Tragically, it utterly failed to live up to even my weakest expectations. The whole place was extremely cramped, with a tiny bar downstairs looking out on to a main road. The room itself was yet more s...
