Good location - a short walk from the plaza, restaurant and large supermarket. Nice, cabin-esque room with clean shared bathroom facilities - good shower. Friendly atmosphere with helpful staff who can help plan your time in Pucon. Standard breakfast, could be improved. Good place for a lie in as no-one in the hostel or in Pucon seems to stir before 10am!

... up a storm we were interrupted but the volcano guide coming to explain the ins and outs of tomorrow's hike ... Once that was over there was little time left to finish my master piece before the hot springs but somehow I managed to work it out. Inhaled another meal and off to our second activity of the day.

It was about a 40 minute drive to the natural hot springs and it was freezing outside so we were all pretty excited to hop In nice ...

... coolest thing I've ever seen. It reminded me of all the volcanos you made as a kid for science projects. The sulphur was pretty strong up there so we had to cover our mouths and nose most of the time. After taking many pictures at the top we then started to descend. The clever trek guides figured the best way to get trekkers down is by letting gravity do its job by sledding down through these paths they carve. You control your speed using your ice axe. We were all terrified ...

... hour away, and you can actually ski here in winter. When we got out of the van, we weren't expecting it to be so cold, the wind made it more so. We started our ascent, along with all the other groups that were setting off. The start of the hike was not on snow, but once we reached the first rest stop, we put on our crampons, and got taught how to use our ice axes. All the gear but no idea! At this point, we were so eager to get going, we almost ended ...

... to get ourselves on a Hydrospeed tour for that afternoon. Hydrospeed is like white water rafting except instead of a raft between you and the rocks you have a chunky piece of foam shaped like a padded body board. Hydrospeed was great! Especially when the guide took us to a rock formation that created a standing wave. I could have stayed in there for hours! We went down some pretty crazy rapids, hit a few rocks but came out smiling at the end. Great fun!
