Palace Backpackers Brisbane

Jess, Caitlin, Tabi, Melissa, Betsy and myself headed to Brisbane for the weekend to go to the Aus Zoo and also see the Andy Warhol Exhibit. Both were great fun!

Brisbane Well this place start my whole trip. We arrived in the late afternoon and stayed at the Palace Backpackers Hostel. We to Surfers Paradise the next day and just bummed it around the beach and the night club area. Went back to Brisbane next day Moved into to the Valley Backpackers Hostel. Fortitude Valley, Where my whole life changed. But thats a story just for me and the Valley Family.

Loads to tell you all again but I'll try and shorten it down because I don't want to bore you. Before I go any further though, I'd just like to say that I'm almost at the point of giving up on trying to understand these geordie foreigners. For the last 2 weeks I've been trying to teach them English but still they persist in using words like ha way, canny, aye and other stupid sayings but am determined to have them talking proper by the time we get to Sydney. Its a terrible shame to hear about whats being happening down at V*lla park this week. I wish I could say that my heart goes out to the scumbags, but I'd be lying through my teeth. All I can pray for is that Deadly Doug stays alive, they sign a **** manager, which should leave the Blues with an end of season promotion party and also be celebrating the scum going down!!!! The next leg of our southern exploration began at Airlie Beach, gateway to the 74 beautiful islands which sit a few kilometres from the mainland and make up the Whitsunday Islands. Brisbane ended up being one of my favorite cities in Australia that I would continue to visit again and again. We stayed a few days here before heading up to Cairns. Its just a very nice clean city thats beautiful to look at.

Well after we finally arrived in Brisbane and disposed of the wicked camper van it was time for us to get booked in at a hostel. Dear Friends, This has been the highlight of OZ so far. Fraser Island is perhaps one of the most diverse places in the world. I arrived at Harvey Bay after a 7hr bus ride from Brisbane on the evening of March 26th. Stayed one night in the Palace Guesthouse then took a shuttle and 45min Ferry boat to Fraser Island. We spent a good bit of time in Brisbane. The guide books didn't have much to say about the place, so the plan was to get out of there as fast as possible....but looking back, we won't be trusting the lonely planet books again. The city was class. Fortune Valley on the edge of the city was a great spot, along with the NormanB on Sunday, unbelievabley lively. Great City...one of the best so far.
