... took a cab to "4 mile beach." It was a lagoon made out of hardened lava. It was all black sand and something I have never seen before. We all rented snorkels and goggles to 5 dollars, which was such a great idea!! Just swimming around we saw so many fish and SEA TURTLES. Sea turtles are always hanging around there, it was incredible! We were so close to the sea turtles that once a big wave hit a sea turtle came flying in shore and literally landed right on Emily's back ...
... I feel like I have completely adjusted to the ship life. Hmm it was BEAUTIFUL out today!! I layed out for a while, got a little tan on my face :) Then ate lunch with peeps, went to class, did some homework. Oh, theennnn we went on a tour of the bridge!! The front of the ship where the captain and everyone sails from! We had a super cute cadet from Whales as our tour guide (sorry Will hehe :)) We took tons of pictures with the captains hat on and holding flags ...
... was nice.
Off we went to find the Lava Tree State Park, we walked through a forest of lava trees, the trees were burnt away by the molten lava and what was left was the cooled lava that had backed up around the tree most of them were hollow were the tree used to be. Cool.
On the crater floor there are steam vents still steaming which is scalding hot from the lookout it looked long, flat and uninteresting but we found it very interesting.
17th November - Sunday
A lovely day, had breakfast out in the garden.
We meet one of our neighbours, her name is Diane (one n) and her husband John, they had plans for the day so we decided to meet up when they got back home for a B B Q tea.
Russ and I spent most of the day in the garden sitting on lounge chairs reading, a tough life but someone has to do it.
