Goodbye Mummy and Daddy!
That morning, it was time to say goodbye to Mum and Dad as we departed to go our own separate ways. Mum and Dad would continue on to do the remainder of Ireland, and I was back to Belfast to fly to Amsterdam the next day.
Fortunately for me, I was able to get a lift back to Belfast with a lovely family from Victoria. We stopped off on a few …
Less than expected
One train, one ferry, one bus and two pairs of legs - all for a rather cheap price actually, since our railcard worked for discount on the ferry too - got us to Belfast from Glasgow quite easily. And in quite good time. Enough time for us to find out half the hostel was in town to go to the Metallica concerts that were being held for the next two …
Overwheling, but peaceful
October 10, 2010 - We stopped at a few towns along the way to Belfast - Drogheda and Monasterboice. In Drogheda, we toured a church where Oliver Plunkett's burned preserved skull was on display. He is very well known here and after his execution, he was lit on fire, decapitated, and those rescuing him were supposed to bring him back to Ireland to …

Giant's Causeway
Ireland certainly wins the award for the country with the best kept houses. It looks like someone has just painted the whole country in one go. Almost every house is clean, and seems freshly painted. Maybe its just something you do every year. Even houses out in the country in remote villages seem to sparkle. Very unlike our farm houses at home.

We stayed here for three days. When we got in, the room that we had reserved was full so they were kind enough to upgrade our room free of charge. The heater worked marvelously. It is a short walk to the city center. Close access to all tourist sites and museums.
This stay was a total of 42 euros for a three night stay verses the 45 euros a night that we were finding to stay in a hotel.
This stay included free breakfast, free wireless internet, and a free day tour to the Giants Causeway! It was quite a find!
We found out that this place as also recommended by Rick Steves, a well known US travel writer.

It only cost me 9 euro for a bed. The facilities and location were fine, would happily stay there again!
