How do you solve a problem like Maria!?

So it's basic, simple but lovely!
The food is great! The lady who runs it (Maria) is so lovely she's agreed to come live in England with me! Dinner at night is pretty cheap but so amazing! She's made the stay so fun! The rooms are shared between 4 which makes it feel more like a hotel, you share a bathroom between that which is nice to not worry about 180 other people using it!
It does feel like a little hotel with the open doors all the time and vines covering everywhere!

Christmas here is obviously a big deal as there are many shops dedicated to selling christmas decorations, and not the tinselly rubbish we see at home, but beautiful glass baubles, handmade wooden, ceramic, glass and metal decorations tied with ribbons and bows. It reminded me a bit of New York at Christmas time, especially with the ...

... told about how the favelas are being 'passifed' to make them safe, with police units being placed in them 24/7 to keep them safe, after the army and police infiltrate them and prosecute the main drug dealers and gang leaders. This, it transpires, is all party of getting Rio ready for all the games, which to me seemed quite vulgar, but when I asked him about how he felt about this, the guide said he thought it was a good thing- ...
