How do you solve a problem like Maria!?

So it's basic, simple but lovely!
The food is great! The lady who runs it (Maria) is so lovely she's agreed to come live in England with me! Dinner at night is pretty cheap but so amazing! She's made the stay so fun! The rooms are shared between 4 which makes it feel more like a hotel, you share a bathroom between that which is nice to not worry about 180 other people using it!
It does feel like a little hotel with the open doors all the time and vines covering everywhere!

    Diving off Ilha Grande

I got the chance to go diving today, and it was really fun. I wasn’t sure how the weather was going to be this morning, especially after the downpours we got last night, but it was actually very nice. I got up this morning to find that there was absolutely no water at the hostel, so not only could I not get a shower, but I also couldn’t …

    Boat tour of the beaches

I got up this morning after a terrible night’s sleep last night. There is a German girl staying in my room who was a little cold last night, so she turned off the A/C. That meant that within a half hour it was absolutely roasting. It also meant that mosquitos had a perfect place to hang out and come bite me. So I was up for most of the night …

    Moving on to Ilha Grande

A travel blog entry by ericjon97 on Feb 05, 2015

I got up this morning, got some breakfast and then packed up my stuff. I really enjoyed my time in Paraty, but it was time to move on. I checked out of the hostel at 11:30am and had to wait for the transfer bus to come pick me up. They came at 12:20pm, and I was the last one to get picked up. I paid the R$135 (35) for the whole transfer from …

    The dentists say goodbye

... a beautiful day! The waves here today almost rivaled those at lopes Mendez beach but we decided to sit these ones out. As we will be coming back to rio in 3 days and will go for a tour around the city then (which our g-adventures tour guide already kindly organised for us), we spent a relaxed afternoon in rio. This evening was our last group meal together. It was emotional to say goodbye to our new friends and safe to say ...

    ... South Africa.

Gavia the last suburb next to the favela is mansion city complete with tennis courts and swimming pools and Police at every street entrance and then as if you were stepping from earth into water you find yourself in the favela! The most extreme contrast of wealth imaginable to the human mind! This is where the controversy begins. The Governments standpoint is firm and has several key goals, the first being to rid all the favelas of the gangs, drug lords ...
