Florence is Fanciful
On the way to Florence, we made a quick stop in Pisa to see the amazing leaning tower. It's actually much smaller than we imagined. The more amazing phenomenon was all the people taking photos of themselves 'holding up' the tower. After a quick piece of pizza (in Pisa) we finished up our 2 hour tour and continued on to Florence.

Day 9: Florence
Today was a full walking day around Florence. The crowds here are worse than they've been anywhere so far, but it may be because it was a beautiful Sunday and it's a small city, so it feels more cramped. We started off by walking to the Duomo, which is the domed focal point of the city, with a tower, cathedral and baptistery. Running to End Breast Cancer in Italy
... The marathon was not 26.2 miles, it just meant that people would be running. In order to be allowed to register for the run one has to supply medical papers proving that one's health is good enough to handle the strenuous physical activity. The papers cost hundreds of euros to obtain because it involves intensive tests and doctor examinations. In the US I feel like it's more a "run at your own risk!" system. So I was definitely part of the walkathon.
