The Ocean Island provided myself and a number of international exchange students a happy place to stay whilst looking for accommodation within Victoria. The hostel was located in an accessible place close to buses in the Downtown area. The staff were friendly and the entertainment such as bands, pub-crawls and quiz nights were satisfactory.

Good hostel to stay at, very central to everything in Victoria. Only $20pn and nice spacious rooms too, there's even a sink and some cupboards in the rooms. The hostel serves hot chocolate, coffee, and a selection of homemade cakes and biscuits throughout the day, and has an excellent cafe on-site. I couldn't fault the hostel, even the wireless was good! I'd definitely stay again if in Victoria.

      Tofino to Victoria (26/07)

Very reluctantly we left Tofino behind and set off on our 5-6 hour drive across and down Vancouver Island to Victoria. We stopped at a couple of beaches near Tofino to dragout actually leaving and watched the mist rolling in from the sea. Bizarrely at one point the mist was coming in little batches/clouds so …

After our bagel, muffin, toast and coffee free breaky for the last time, we stumbled around the subway with our giant packs, trying to work out the train system. Somehow we ended up where we were meant to be and boarded the bus to Victoria. The bus pulled up inside the biggest ferry ever, with all the other trucks, cars and buses. It was 6 storeys …

      Accommodation:

      - I had the privilege of living in Victoria, BC for approximately 7-8 months (around a number of small trips within Canada and the US). Myself and a number of exchange students stayed at the Ocean Island Inn for anywhere between 1 day to 2 weeks prior to moving into our on-campus or off-campus accommodation for The …

      Goldstream Provincial Park
