Not the bright, sunny weather of yesterday afternoon, but we still decided to go on a zodiac trip on the lagoon. Today was all about ice, including the weather. I've never had to wear so many layers. We started with a walk on the black volcanic sand beach, where the icebergs from the glacier come to their final resting place unless they just melt into the waves first. It was hard to walk against the force of the wind so we didn't hang around for ...

Between us we had some spectacular losses, which you would have thought would have pleased those we were playing against, but it didn't seem to at all. ... and then we headed off to what I thought was going to be a short little hike. Ok I must have miss read the sign because I thought the entire hike was going to take 45 mins but instead it was 45 mins each way just to see a waterfall. I must admit I was impressed with Svartifoss, the waterfall, but after walking up a steep incline for 45 mins I had lost some of my enthusiasm. Cindy copped a squat at the highest ...

... huge area, washing away the main highway & twisting several steel bridges like plastic. Just past here we started to see glaciers - not just one or two but probably at least 10 so I was beside myself. There is something wonderful about these fantastic creations that I have an affinity with & I feel so grateful to have been lucky enough to see them in several countries. This was beyond my wildest dreams though & to stop ...
