Going Japanese in Brisbane
Brisbane fell nicely into our route so we felt obliged to stop and see what the city had to offer.
Unfortunately we also had another motive for being in a big city, as we were realising that we were quickly running out of money so needed to find a Qantas office to shorten our trip a little. (Damn Australia and it's expensive dollar, you …
Brisbane
So, I thought that I had better update this pod while still in Brisbane as have been here for quite a while. To be honest there isn't too much here and not up to city standard compared to home, it grinds to a hault at about 6 when everyone has gone home, there are a lot of 'city' buildings and a parade of shops but thats about it, it's got a lot of …
To Brissy or not to Brissy
You are probably wondering why I bothered to stop in Brisbane. I wondered this myself when I was standing outside the youth hostel at 6pm in the dark with a cup of tea as the fire alarm went off.
Despite my initial doubts - my whirlwind 24 hour stopover was a success. In brief, I managed to: spot an international celebrity, learn a little …
Up and then back down to earth
Ok So I finally left Sydney. My face has been a beaming ray of sunshine. Don't get me wrong, there are millions of people out there, that would love Sydney and set fire to my hair at the thought of thinking otherwise. I guess since finding OB in CA, I've decided that I like the smaller places. And if you ever need to go to the city, public …

Frankly I liked Tin Billy for the location which is just across the street from Roma station downtown. The staff is awesome, the bar has a good vibe and security is A1. However, we stayed in the 13 bunk beds dorm and it seems to me that the people living with us have been there forever. Their stuff was spread all across the floor of the room, there must have been about 30 bottle of half empty shampoo in the bathroom aside from everyone's bath stuff and it smelled like a dirty alley. I could also mention the yells at 3 am when they were getting back from the bar despite our request to keep it down, but thats just normal backpackers hostel situation early in the morning.
