Brisbane

So, I thought that I had better update this pod while still in Brisbane as have been here for quite a while. To be honest there isn't too much here and not up to city standard compared to home, it grinds to a hault at about 6 when everyone has gone home, there are a lot of 'city' buildings and a parade of shops but thats about it, it's got a lot of stuff near it but not much in it, I guess thats why they call it Australias most livable city, (probably decided by the same people that said Ashf...

Up and then back down to earth

Ok So I finally left Sydney. My face has been a beaming ray of sunshine. Don't get me wrong, there are millions of people out there, that would love Sydney and set fire to my hair at the thought of thinking otherwise. I guess since finding OB in CA, I've decided that I like the smaller places. And if you ever need to go to the city, public transport is only minutes and a tender ass away. So the end of my time in Sydney was a little strung out. Work was not coming in fast enough and the money ...

Brisbane

Doing what Frankie says....

The last three days have been so relaxing. We havent done very much apart from chilling out. We arrived in Brisbane at around noon. After checking in to the tinbilly hostel, which i must say is one of the best hostels i've been in since the trip began, we decided to do the lonely planet walking tour of Brisbane. This took in the Botanic Gardens and lots of (ozzie) old buildings. It also took us to the south bank across the recently erected goodwill bridge. On the south bank there was a man ma...

Wet days in Brisbane

With the onset of Christmas break or "schoolies" along the east coast, we couldn't get any hostels booked in any of the other stops along the coast. So after emailing and calling, we gave up and booked the bus all the way from Airlie Beach to Brisbane. After 18 hours on the bus, we were happy to arrive and find comfy beds at the Tin Billy hostel. We called Andy's brother's friend Neville who lives in Brisbane and made a plan to see them the next day. We went for a walk around Queen Street and...

the flights to auckland then onto brisbane werent so bad, the 7 hour wait in auckland airport was not fantastic tho. i airrived there, went through security - on my own as the last flight out had just left, and then preceeded to the departure lounge. everthing was closed, even the cafe's and i was litterally the only person in there. There was nothing for it but to attempt to get some much needed sleep. At 7 in the morning i boarded my flight to brisbane, after a few hours of broken sleep. Wh...

Brisbane 13th March - 14th March 2009

13 th March 2009 So today we were meeting up with Daniel in Brisbane, he had been there a few days and had booked us all on to a brewery tour at 2pm, you can just imagine the excitement Zoe and Laura were experiencing. The bus arrived in Brisbane at 11am, we then checked into our hostel (the same one as Daniel, but not in the same dorm). The rooms were 6 bed dorms which we were staying in so the biggest share for us yet and as you can imagine slightly harder to sleep in. Once checked in we sh...

The Valley

I had quite an easy time hitching to Brisbane. The Irish couple from my Frasier trip gave me a lift to the highway. I then got a lift to a servo just down the road from some young aussies who were potheads and telling me about there community service. They were really simple and probably imbred, I did check that they had thumbs, hehe.. Later an older guy gives me a lift all the way to Brisbane. He was a bit nervous to pick me up explaining that he doesn't normally do this and asked me not to ...
