          Clean but unfriendly

The hostel was far cleaner and tidier than base, apart from the kitchen which was alway an absolute tip! There is a super cool rooftop seating area and a jacuzzi which is free to use, there's also a really swanky bar joined next door with cheap backpacking priced drinks. However, it appears the people here seemed a little less friendly on a general note, I still met some cool people though!

We stayed in this hostel for one night prior to taking the Northern Explorer to Wellington.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
We had an en suite room which was very clean and comfortable.
Security was good with access using a card.
Lovely big kitchen on 7th floor and a hot tub on the outside space on 7th floor.
Only downside was the noise from the clubs on the street. Noise went on all night and clubs still going when we left at 8 a.m.
          Hostel offers free earpplugs.
          Would use this hostel again.

Terrible hostel! Too many people, tiny & smelly rooms, the kitchen is a mess with no space in the fridge and downstairs is a noisy bar. At it's not even THAT cheap. Can't recommend, sorry!

Following on from the last blog, I spent the next couple of days wondering around Auckland, visiting various suburbs, coffee shops, museums, parks & beaches. It's a good city, I can see why it regarded as one of the nicest cities in the world to live. Although if I did, I would live on one of the islands and commute in by ferry! I got an taste …

Where to begin? I suppose I should start at the start.....

Heathrow was kind to me and I flew through the checks. The plane was lovely, the initial distress of seeing a toddler two seats away from me passed as I didn't hear him all flight. The entertainment was great, watched 'The Theory of Everything' - what a performance by Ben …

Auckland is a city known for its Sky Tower which is actually the tallest structure in the southern hemisphere standing at 328 metres. There is a 'sky jump' where you can plunge, controlled by a pully, into Aucklands's waters for a steep price, baring this in mind I did not take part. It is a city quite vastly spread out in my opinion, with no easy …

I landed to pouring rain at 630am but full of excitement and anticipation at what the next 4 weeks had to offer! Optimism was high, I had 3 nights before Sophie arrived then another 2 nights before we picked our campervan up, which we had arranged to do over messages after meeting in Bolivia 6 weeks previous! Already felt very comfortable as the …
