      Loud but cheap

So we checked in really late (after midnight).

The rooms are nothing special. There was an air conditioner- which was welcomed. The beds were clean (though the pillows and mattress were average at best).

The room smelled- but everything appeared clean.

We crashed shortly after 1 on a Thursday night.
Unfortunately we had a room close to reception- and it was extremely noisy.
We both had broken sleep the whole night. The planes are real loud here too.

They offer breakfast (coffee, toast etc) which was a welcome surprise.

All in all, for $75 for two single beds and an ensuite, it was okay.

I'm pretty tired though, good thing they give free coffee.

Nomads may be a half an hour walk into the city, but there's so much space, activities take place every night, free breakfast and $3 dinners, shuttles that take you into town every hour (5 minute ride), and it's such a relaxed hostel to be at.

Uncle Brians Tour and The Great Barrier Reef

A travel blog entry by faraway-fantasy on Jul 22, 2014

So due to my limited time to travel down from Cairns to Brisbane before I had to catch my flight to Vanuatu, I decided that the easiest way was to book a tour through a travel company. Anybody who knows me knows I hate planned tours and restrictions, I hate over crowded touristy groups and places, having to do things on certain days, times and …

Today has been the funniest, happiest day of my trip so far. It was also the best trip I've ever been on and it was seriously amazing.

I went on Uncle Brian's tour, which is a day trip of the Atherton tablelands and waterfalls but it was so good. It literally was a full day from when we got picked up at 8am until we got home at 9pm. It was …

We woke up at 4:20 to leave for the train station at 5:15. Our leader got ****** that night so had to wake him up (no surprises there). We then took the coach to Proserpine station to start the 11 hour journey to Cairns. We arrived at the train station and took a coach to Nomad Serpent and dropped off our bags and then made our way down to the Red …

Little change of plans...
