Sociable, decent facilities, although a little noisy.

I stayed in a quite decent mixed dorm with en-suite bathroom and separate toilet. The noise from the bar was quite loud, although not so bad with earplugs, and probably no worse than any other hostels in town. The common areas are pretty good; plenty of places to sit and chill etc. There's a fairly friendly vibe about the place too.

We stayed at a powered site in the campervan park around the back of the hostel. It was in really nice shadey grounds, good facilities, helpful staff. Great place!

This place was lovely. It had space for people travelling my camper vans and some smaller rooms as well as large rooms. We was in a room of 8. Each room had two showers, very practical, and two sinks in the bathroom - this was the only place that had thought about the practicalities of so many people in one room. The laundry facilities were good here too - they had lots of space to hang your clothes to dry.

Large, clean, ensuite dorms

This is the first place I have stayed with en-suite dorms so I was impressed with that. The dorm rooms, bathrooms and kitchen were clean. Again, wifi and internet access wasn't free. I prefer smaller hostels but this was ok for such a big one, the staff weren't as friendly as at other hostels I've stayed at.

It's a backpackers as well as a Caravan Park.
Offers a central place (so very close to the shops, pubs), nevertheless a bit noisy.
But it's a nice place with a kitchen and a outdoor bar and swimming pool.

The hostel had a great location and a nice layout with lots of huts instead of a big concrete dorm block. rooms were really clean and staff were friendly although there was always a HUGE queue for reception which was kinda annoying and the kitchen could have been better equipped but all in all it was fine :)

A little bit of paradise after the bus from hell

A travel blog entry by matt-lewis on Jun 29, 2015

On the bus from Brisbane, at one of the stops, maybe about 6 hours or so in, two Welsh and one English lads got on. They were pretty noisy right from the off. One of them (the English one) didn't register with the driver, and it took about twenty minutes for the driver to find out who it was. Then the guy couldn't even say his own name! One of the …

Nimbin To Airlie Beach WC 22nd June 2015

With hazy eyes the following morning we weren't up and out quickly but that was in line with the day's plans. The final destination was Brisbane, but between Nimbin & there was plenty of opportunities to stop off and take in more of Australia. Having heard mixed reviews we headed for Surfers Paradise on Australia's Gold Coast - which would …

Swimming in crystal clear freshwater lakes, racing 4WD's down the beach, sailing the Whitsundays on a private ship and snorkelling with over 40 different species of fish. The lifestyle we have been occupying whilst exploring Fraser Island and the Whitsundays. It was nearly as perfect as it seems excusing the overnight camping on a sand island (sand …

7-8, 10-11 January: Two nights in Airlie Beach

A travel blog entry by iseliner on Jan 11, 2015

Giacomo and I came to Airlie Beach with no expectations, thinking it was just a stop we had to make in order to go sailing in the Whitsundays. And we were a bit concerned about the hostel we were going to stay in, called Nomads, because Lonely Planet had written that it was filthy. But Airlie Beach was a beautiful place with a wonderful artificial …

Airlie Beach (aka rainy England)

A travel blog entry by mattchurch7 on Jan 06, 2015

Hello from England! Sorry, Airlie Beach... It's very easy to become confused here, because there has been near-constant rain from the moment I arrived here last Friday (2nd)!!! Despite the weather (which is trying to re-acclimatise me), I have enjoyed my 4 nights here in Airlie Beach. It's a very quaint, small town/resort within spitting distance …
