this is a charming welcoming perfect little guesthouse! charming landlady, very comfortable rooms, lovely balcony, close to the city center but far enough to enjoy the calm balcony in the morning sun. I stayed here a full week, it was perfect!

One of the best hostels we've stayed in throughout our whole trip. Its a beautiful house, very homely. The kitchen and facilities are brilliant with a big fridge and freezer if you want to buy and cook your own food plus three seperate cooking hobs for when it's busy. The toilet and Shower area is nice and clean like the rest of the hostel. Staff were very helpful in providing information about walking in the national park and gave us three really useful maps. The walk into the centre of town and train station takes about 5-10mins walking and it is easy to get a bus from town to take you to the starting point of lots of different walks. You can also walk to the national park from the hostel which takes about 15mins.

Leaving Port Macquarie I normally should have stopped at Newcastle, the next coastal city that all backpackers stop at, but I had seen enough beaches! So I took the Greyhound all the way to Sydney, it dropped me at the Central station, I just had to take the elevator and book a train ticket for Katoomba.

... was to visit some local caves which we were recommended to check out; I was game as the cave we planned to visit was called 'Lucas cave'... ego-tastic! The cave unfortunately was not so 'tastic' as our tour time was hijacked by a large tour group of children from China or South Korea I think; so their incomprehensible babbling was magnified in the tunnels and caves whilst most people tried to ignore them. Also, because they all spoke ...
