... morning and the drum in the evening. A strange thing happened in the Hutong because everywhere we went I spotted a graffiti rabbit symbol on everything such as lamp posts, garage doors, bins, light switches, alleyways, you name it. I couldn't help thinking that it was a sign for following the white rabbit and something out of Alice in wonderland, but I know that was my imagination running wild! Whatever it was, no-one knew the real reason! Tiananmen Square - A Square for ...

... The maid came in to check Alana out of the room.

Katherine and I walked up stair since Bethany was checking out too. Mariel and Terry were in her room too. After Mariel left, Terry sat on Bethany's bed. When I sat down on it too, the bed sunk low. Terry laughed. I won't denied that I have a big butt.

Bethany had to get something from Chloe. We walked to the sixth floor. She was not in there. Before we walked down, we decided to check out ...

Went to see Cloisonne being made. Bought some and had it shipped home. Fingers crossed they get there.

Then off to a Jade gallery for a demonstration of how Jade is made and of course a large gallery where you can buy jade. Be careful of the prices as they are overpriced and the guides get kickbacks. We had lunch there in "the Ruby Room". A private room with food and grog included. Try the Rice ...

... We went to the most touristy section Badling which is renowned for being very busy but if you are prepared to walk you can get away from the crowds. We took the train from Beijing North which cost an extortional 6CNY (approx 60p!) one way. Entry fee for the wall is 45CNY so a massive saving of the cheapest tours and you have the freedom to do what you want. We took the cable car to the top to avoid the crowds on the first part of the wall and then ...

... I knew it! I told him I had booked a great wall tour with my hostel (I hadn't), but if he gave me an itinerary and better price I would cancel it and come back tomorrow. He went into the office and photocopied the itinerary and put the price on it. It was cheaper than the hostel tour, but I had heard of these dodgy cheap tours which take you to jade factories and peking duck shops to fleece you of your cash, whilst giving you and hour and a half on the Wall ...
