Family and the High Holidays
... to help us plan our week in Jerusalem. Because of the way Shabbat and the high holidays set up, we had to do 2 big days in a row. Elon was nice enough to guide us online in Hebrew to purchase advance tickets for the Kotel tunnels. We walked to the Old City in the morning and hooked up with a free tour outside Jaffa gate at 11am. Yaacov was our tour guide, another liberal orthodox Jew. He was terrific. In Jeruzalem!
... taal voorbij komen.
Het hostel is best duur, maar na wat rondgevraagd te hebben blijkt dit toch echt het goedkoopst te zijn. Een grote domper, want alles is hier gewoon duur. Voor een nacht in een slaapzaal zijn we 12 euro per persoon kwijt (zonder ontbijt). Maarja, het is niet anders!
Voorlopig blijven we hier nog wel even hangen. De meest heilige/spirituele stad ter wereld proeven!

First Impressions
... very frustrated with the labyrinth of alleys throughout the old city. We worked our way through the Muslim quarter stopping momentarily at Jafar's Sweets to enjoy the warm, gooey, sweet goodness known as kanafeh before continuing on towards the Christian Quarter.
