... entered into the iPad & we're off. Shopping nirvana is 32 miles/45 minutes away down the NY Thruway which is a 6 lane toll road. Getting there was a breeze, no rain, light traffic. We arrived not long after it opened so parking was simple, the place was really lovely but it started to rain (a very fine mist that didn't let up all day) First stop, Polo Ralph Lauren of course. Sale was ok, same as Canada actually. There were about 3 Polo stores ...

... have been in Poughkeepsie city as opposed to Poughkeepsie town (where we were staying). The city was like a movie set after a disaster. Clearly the GFC has had a huge impact here. We did Horseman (5.5, 2 pitches, 120 feet), Beginner's Delight (5.4, 3 pitches, 250 feet), Spareribs (5.6) linking to the upper pitches of Ribs (5.4). ...

... people, such as Winston Churchill, were guests here and I think the tour guide said that he may have stayed in the pink room.

I think everyone on our tour was also rather dismayed when Eleanor's room was pointed out. Since Franklin's mother lived in the family home, Eleanor was not the woman in charge. And when Franklin's manservant was given the room adjoining Franklin's, Eleanor got another little room. This part confused me because ...

After visiting the FDR Presidential Library and Museum and Springwood, the Roosevelt estate, we drove to Poughkeepsie and started on the Walkway over the Hudson. At first we were just going to try it and then Emma became determined to get to the other side. The late afternoon light made great lighting but I had trouble with over and under-exposures. I kept recalling some sound installation when I ...
