Travel Blogs from Warsaw

Not so free

I have back tracked further east in order to reach Poland. I used my expensive flight booked in Singapore to get to Warsaw. I didn't want to get stuck at the airport again, so I booked a cheap flight to Oslo to have proof of leaving. Turns out I wasn't asked about leaving, so that was a bit of a waste of money. It did give me peace of mind though, …

Short and Sweet Stay

After our afternoon in Copenhagen, our flight lands in Warsaw in the late evening requiring us to navigate our way through the dark to our hostel for the next few nights. What we thought was a fairly straightforward 15 minute walk from Warsaw Central train station actually turned out to be more like two hours of zig-zagging through the very …

Warsaw Rising

So today I went to the museum of the Warsaw Rising. Like the Schindler's museum, it is incredibly creatively done and follows the story of how the Polish Resistance Home Army fought a very uneven battle against the Nazis and Soviet for about three months to try to get Germany out. Tragic results though. Hundreds of thousands of civillians and …

Hostels are cool.

Hostels are cool.

So I've not had the pleasure of sleeping alone for three weeks. So I'm now used to tea and coffee neat. I've been exposed to foot aromas more potent than those of my younger brother's. I may or may not have performed an excited naked dance last night at discovering the NON HAND HELD shower released HOT water and I have …

High tourist season finally caught up with us in Warsaw. We knew it was bound to happen eventually so it wasn't a huge shocker but it still made for a somewhat uncomfortable first hour or so in Warsaw.
Because Warsaw isn’t an overly popular tourist destination, there aren’t a lot of hotels/hostels to choose from. We knew this …

Different crowd

The actual facility was nice. The rooms were big, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. The internet connection was great too. The staff was ok, but I didn't have much to do with them. The problem was more the guests. I had a bad of food taken one day and when I bought some more, one of my apples disappeared. There were a lot of old men in the hostel and very few people who spoke English. The location was ok, but it was a bit out of the old town. It was about a 30minute walk which was fine, but not good if you wanted to go back to the hostel in the middle of the day.

Good budget hostel in Warsaw central

The bare minimums but a decent price for the big city and for fairly central location (once we found it!).
