Bunoich Brae Fort Augustus, Loch Ness, Scottish Highlands, Scotland, United Kingdom, PH32 4DG, (01320)-366-289

I set of early the next morning to meet up with a tour group for 3 days to see the Scottish highlands and the Isle of Skye. After setting off early in the morning we first stopped off in a little town that had an old church that had been burnt down. It was a really cute little town and it was quite nice as the sun was actually out. After that we headed up to the Culloden battlefield and were told the story of how the Scott's were defeated here. It was quite sad and there were monuments everyw...
Fort Augustus, Scotland, United Kingdom alanna.hollowayThe next day we set out to see the Isle of Skye. On the way we first stopped off at Eilean Donan castle which was really, really cool. It is one of those castles that you always see on postcards or calendars or random pics of Scotland and it is an awesome castle and I don't think you can take a bad picture of it. We got to wander around inside for a bit and it was really interesting as it was done up from years past and gave you an idea on how people lived back in the day. I really enjoyed be...
Isle of Skye, Scotland, United Kingdom alanna.holloway Hey guys!
Well today opened, cold, rainy and wet - guess all the sunny weather is well and truly behind us. Onto the bus we got, and before long we were all the stome pretty waterfalls set in beautiful forest which are all the colours of the rainbow at the moment. At the falls is minigolf, an adventure playground and a mini harrods in the tea house, complete with wax Mohammed Al-Fayed! Random
Lunch was spent in Inverness, a large city which is sadly known for being voted the cit...
Hey there! Well it's hard to believe that we're already halfway through Scotland, in an week we'll be in Amsterdam, the week after we'll be in Paris and the week after that we'll be back home and Josh will be back at work !
So today began early after a hearty brekkie of porridge (yes say after me 'that's nooowt how ya make poorrridge!') Mercifully the weather held out on us through the day - our first stop was Loch Clooney (no relation to George!) with some beautiful views of the wate...
Happy Birthday Grandma and Stacy!! Unfortunate news, Dad: we will not be travelling into Aberdeen on this trip as there is not enough time. I am very disappointed, but am sure that we will have no problems finding out way around once we're there next year. We drove into the Isle of Skye and the fairy Glen today. Now, as out tour guide would say, you must raise your voice to a squeak when saying 'fairies' and speak in a thick Scottish accent. Not being allowed to stop and therefore take photos...

Fort Augustus, Scotland, United Kingdom marcikayDay two: Fort Augustus to Portree (Skye)
Portree, Scotland, United Kingdom marcikay Today I left SYHA Torridon (with the key I must add) and headed off to Fort Augustus via Inverness, again stopping along the way to take some photos.
I must say, it was nice to stop in Inverness and actually see some people around. I had a walk around the shops, filled the car up with diesel and went shopping in Morisons.
On my way to Fort Augustus from Inverness I intended to go the quieter route on the north shore, but somehow coming out of Inverness I must have taken the wron...

Inverness, United Kingdom sarahbooth
... dropped in to the bike shop and got them to swap the rear brake cable over and all was well. I then set out and did the two red routes again, moaning about the cycle up and wishing that I had got the Land Rover shuttle to the top, but I just didn't want to be lazy. The second run went without any mishap or broken bones, all together a great day. Now back to the hostel for some food and a pint!
Laggan, Scotland, United Kingdom peterward... today is terrible, we are walking in 35-50 mph winds and it is constantly raining in our faces. We get to the half way point (in height any way) and stop for some thing to eat. The second half of the
mountain climb was a lot harder than the first and as we climb higher and higher we get further and further into the clouds and it gets colder and windier as we climb. We finally reach the summit and the ...
