The ancient city

A travel blog entry by jandladventures

Venturing through Ayutthaya was a long exhausting voyage. Originally we rented bikes to check out all of the ancient ruins... Soon realizing we had to pay to enter them all, we briefly circled a few with our bikes. This was good enough especially because it was fairly easy to see them as the walls were low. We all noticed a sign with an arrow …

A lot of temples

Cycling again..! This time Ayutthaya

We wake up in the strange guesthouse and, as breakfast is included we go downstairs and ask the owner about it. She points at table and chairs (like outdoor furniture made out of a tree, kept there all year). The table is all soggy underneath and keeps dripping yellow stuff on my legs, mmm.
She bring out Tea and Coffee - thank ******** can't …

Floating Markets/ Ayutthaya

Nice early start (7am- crack of dawn) where we witnessed our first ladyboy drama. English guy looking at room prices with a not very convicing 'lady', he must of been SO wasted, had a drink in hand still. He even stopped her and gave her a massive kiss infront of everyone in the lobby. Rooms were too expensive, so they left. Later saw from our tour …

Mass floods only an hour from Bangkok!

28th Sept We arrived the evening on the 27th but didn't get up too much because we got there pretty late. It took a while finding our guesthouse mainly because the tuk tuk drivers took us to the complete wrong part of town and then demanded more money even though we already agreed a price. They were basically trying to con us but we stood our …

Paid for a triple and a double through a travel agency and upon arrival ended up all 5 of us getting squished into one larger room. It was ok, had a/c but one person was expected to sleep on a mat on the floor which is not what we paid for. Other than that it was nice, overpriced breakfast but the owner is a hoot - loved having her around

The staff are helpful, there are bikes to rent but I found the uncleanliness disappointing. How much effort does it take to wipe down a sink? No loo roll supplied, towels are nearly seethrough.
The green tea is perfect though! I wouldn't go back, shamebecause the building itself looks lovely. Maybe we just got a bad room.
