Entry 6 - Good times in Chengdu
23/10/2011
ok well what can I say it has been a fantastic week, very interesting and funny week in other words an expensive one! But none the less a week to be remembered! After leaving Xian for our 17hour train journey to Chengdu we find ourself in another massively built city of China , however after randomly meeting fellow backpacker Simon …
Chengdu, China
We made it to Cheng Du in Sichuan province, enduring the longest train trip that either of us has undertook in our life time. We knew it was trouble when we found out that we were traveling on the 2nd biggest holiday of the Chinese year: the Moon Festival. The train station was really crowded and the train was 100% sold out. The trip was scheduled …
One Big Buddha
Chengdu, China - We (Lauren and I) arrived into Chengdu at midday after sleeping most of the way from Xi'an. A quick metro stop and we found the stylish and laid back Mix hostel. We signed up for the bike tour, settled in and grabbed a spicy soup lunch.
The bike tour was FREE! Arranged weekly by hostel owner Mix, he loves the …
Were off to see the pandas!!
(Heidi) This morning we woke up at 6:30am, had a quick bite to eat and jumped in our van to go to the pandas. I was sooooooo excited! It has been the thing I have most looked forward to. We drove for twenty minutes and finally arrived, jumped out of the van and we were off. The grounds for the panda reserve are lovely, bamboo covered walkways, …
Save the terrapins..

Once at the park we found a nice little tea house next to the boating lake, the sign said 1 cup 1 chair so we decided to try some. As soon as we sat down we were bombarded by men …

TravelPod Member ReviewsMix Hostel Chengdu
The staff were amazing. Extremerly helpful. Booked flights, phoned other hostels etc for no charge.
The rooms were very nice and the communal areas are top nothch. I cannot fault it in any way and I have stayed at many places. They do everything well, even the little things!!

the hostel is lovely but the best thing is that mix (the owner) takes you on a free bike ride for three hours through around the city, he shows you all the lcoal sites; temples, churchs, mao statue, university- lovely old buildings. mix speaks fantastic english and is a really great guy. After the ride we asked him to take us somewhere for dinner, he took us to a great local place, v cheap. Definately sign up for the bike ride. The staff are good, rooms nice.would recommend it.

Adresse sympatique, cadre agréable, proche du métro (5 minutes à pied) manque juste un personnel plus chaleureux!
