Geweldig hostel. De eigenaren waren heel erg aardig en hielpen overal mee. De mensen waren gezellig en we hadden hier een geweldige Halloween Party! Het is dat er niet zoveel te doen was in Mission Beach, anders waren we langer gebleven.

Nice YHA hostel, with a small pool and close to the beach. And the best I got another upgrade from a 4 bed room to a room for my own.

This was a lovely hostel to stay at; staff and guests were very friendly, clean kitchen (no oven), and bathroom, less than 5 minutes walk from the beach. The only faults I found were there weren't enough bathrooms and wifi/Internet access wasn't free.

This hostel is great. It's cosy with 30 beds, the owners are really helpful and it's just like one big family, also right by the beach

Ok so probably should have started this sooner as my memory is **** but here goes ... So decided to travel Australia in the March and set off on April the 14th. Let me tell you the flights are not fun (if you was James because I slept like 20hrs of 28 travelling). We landed in Brisbane and was met at the airport by my auntie Jo and stayed at her …

Pebbles: Last night was awesome! Went for a BBQ on the beach, one of the lads cooked kangaroo steaks & burgers and surprisingly we actually really enjoyed trying them :) sans the sand that they were unfortunately covered in... We also had marshmallows and chocolate cake with the owners son, which was really lovely! We watched the moon rise over …

Just a short blog as there wasn't much in Mission Beach:
Glenn recommended a hostel to us called Mission Beach Retreat where he had worked for a few months. When we arrived at the hostel they said I had booked different dates but they were really nice about it and moved some things around to fit us in. They put us in a 4 bed dorm the first …

The journey is great - we get a film and everything - some **** British thing about teenagers snogging - but its better than nothing and probably better than talking to the old Australian guy who was sitting next to me. We did try for a bit to be polite - but you know how it is. Picture yourself on a ...

    Mission Beach (and Tully)

We drove to Tully (the next small town South) in the morning. The whole area (both North and South) of Cairns is full of sugar cane plantations and there is a large sugar refinery at Tully. The thing Tully is famous for is having the largest recorded annual rainfall (7.9m in 1950 - it averages over 4m each year). It is also famous for the "Golden Gumboot", which commemorates this fact, at the entrance to the town ...
