Hey folks, haven't made an entry for a while it's time to catch up. I was in Darwin and around that area for about 6 days, starting the first of April. We arrived there with our German friends who have been driving us around the west coast for the past month or so. It was time to say good bye and start on the east coast. One part of our trip had now ended. I knew the east coast wasn't going to compare scenic-wise to the west coast, but the east coast has so much to offer, and plus....it was t...
Darwin, Australia adameliasArrived after a short hop from Singapore, 4.5 hour flight in which Chris passed out and I got bored coz the lights were out and I couldn't sleep. For some reason we got dinner and a drink, as well as a blanket and stuff, whereas most passengers didn't. Think this is probably because we were technically quantas passengers even though it was a Jetstar flight, or something like that anyway. So got to Darwin at about 4am, no probs through customs and immigration. A few taxis were waiting outside,...
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia binaunterwegsAustralia Northern Territory My flight from Bali to Australia was short at an hour and a half; it made me think how far I'd travelled during my nine months. I was in the Northern Territory only briefly, to venture into what people refer to as 'the real Australia'. I'd booked a three day camping trip into the National Parks of Kakadu and Litchfield, but before I ventured into the outback, I took a stroll around Darwin. I'd been in South East Asia for around 5 months, and so got seriously excit...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia chrissmith300Before I left for Austr*li*, my roomm*te in Color*do, who h*s *lso spent time in Oz, told me not to bother going to D*rwin. "There's nothing there." he s*id. In * w*y he's right. Aside from being the g*tew*y to pl*ces like K*k*du, Litchfield *nd K*therine, it doesn't h*ve much to offer. The business district could h*rdly be c*lled pretty *nd some of the outskirts look like pl*ces you'd be best to *void *t night. But despite *ll this, I enjoyed my time there. First of *ll, the we*ther w*s impe...
Darwin, Nothern Territory, Australia gdubs55The following morning we flew up to Darwin from Alice. On arrival it was clear that this short hop had affected a massive change in our surroundings. Coming in to land, instead of the red dust to which we had become accustomed, we were greeted by rolling green hills and lush palm trees and vegetation. The weather was still extremely hot, but we had replaced the dry heat of the desert for the much more uncomfortable humidity of a tropical climate. We took a shuttle bus to the centre of Darwin ...
Darwin, Australia heathermillsAt the moment we have our mid-semester-break, so for the next two weeks we are free from uni. I figured why not take the opportunity and travel a bit more while I'm already here, so yesterday I packed my bags and jumped on a flight to Darwin. I'm going on a 14 days tour from Darwin and all the way back to Adelaide, driving through central Australia and The Outback. The plane left Adelaide yesterday at 22:15 and arrived here at 1:55. It's really humid here I sweat all the time, feels like walk...
