This morning I left Malmö, Sweden, for Copenhagen Airport, Denmark. Months of planning and waiting were finally over. I was going to see London for the first time, not just passing thru or transfer at the airport. The flight from Copenhagen to Heathrow took about an hour and a half and from the airport I had to take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station and then jump on the Circle line to Gloucester Rd station to meet up with my dear, old ;-), friend Linn. After finding our hostel, Meini...
London, England, United Kingdom fragglanI found my Hostel very easily, it is interesting....... The shower is maybe 1/4 the size of my parents shower, but at least I am clean!!! Everytime I try to go out and find a place, i get lost and walk around in circles!!! They need to properly label their streets here!!! I was lucky I found this internet cafe, now hopefully I find it again tomorrow :) My plan today was to do some tour but now I just want to find a place to eat and in about 4 hours I can go check in, then I will take a nap!! ...

... and sat in the lobby to wait for Christian and Adrian to arrive. They were taking the train from their hometown of Market Harboro to come spend the day with me in London. Christian and I had not seen each other since September 1989, and I had never met Adrian, who came into Christian's life fourteen years ago (and has since become the main force behind the "find Christian's old Disney friends" initiative).
Arrive they did! And - wow! How wonderful to see someone ...
... and Branly is disconcerting is because the British collection is curated with an underlying mission statement that includes itself , so that ancient and pre-historic Europe, and especially a legacy on British soil, is represented in the same way as the rest of the world's cultures.
This statement of purpose is extraordinarily simple--but because of it, the whole collection to me is thus ...
... to the loos :) had some woman from italy sitting next to us she gave funny looks when we told her we were going to china and didnt speak any chinese... but anyway the coolest part of the story had to be the in flight entertainment.. it was unreal there was about 50 movies to chose from new and old about the same in cds to listen to you could also creat your own ...
London, England, United Kingdom bayleighkeirne... exciting, too. The streets were narrow with cobblestones and I could pictures men riding around them on their horses! I went into this beautiful garden that is a ruined church of Christopher Wren's (architect of St. Paul's) and after it burnt down it was made into this garden. You can see from my pictures how beautiful and English it is. Next, I went to the National Portrait Gallery. I was so exhausted by this time that I was worried I might collapse ...
London, England, United Kingdom ecmom77... will speak English with a sexy French accent and be very vavavoom... :-) I had my TEFL course at the week end. Our tutuor Annie was excellent. She gave us some teaching methods and a good briefing about the job. The only problem for me will be finding a job as I am not a native English native speaker. On Saturday evening, I just didn't want to go home alone and read my books straight away, I had too many questions in my ...
London, United Kingdom 3615_raymonde... about 4 hours just walking up and down the aisles. Its mind blowing. Clothes here are really cheap....amazingly so, however fresh veges and meat are so unbelievably expensive. We have had NZ lamb a couple of times and I swear it was so much better than the stuff you buy at home. Its like they export all the good quality meant overseas and the kiwis get the second grade. Yesterday we had another shopping trip in the morning and spent the afternoon playing ...
London, United Kingdom lishinlondon... they only have small and medium sizes which are our medium and large sizes respectively. We got our flight to London and arrived about 9.30pm London time (2 hours behind Athens) we caught the tube to our Hostel and after getting lost and being directed by 2 aussies we finally found it and pretty much just crashed out. We woke up Sunday to a cold and rainy day. We ventured out to The LOndon Dungeon and after waiting in line for 2 hours we finally ...
London, United Kingdom colin_tameka... road (after all these years, why don´t they get that right?). Mrs. Potts, had she been skipping along beside us, would have been quite proud of her city that day. The sky was filled with sunshine and big, benevolent cumulus clouds--the perfect backdrop for our first afternoon of adventures abroad. Sadly, there was no time for much sightseeing, as we had a long-list of errands for the day: purchasing a rail pass, brainstorming ways to lighten our backpacks, and so on ...
