... and sat in the lobby to wait for Christian and Adrian to arrive. They were taking the train from their hometown of Market Harboro to come spend the day with me in London. Christian and I had not seen each other since September 1989, and I had never met Adrian, who came into Christian's life fourteen years ago (and has since become the main force behind the "find Christian's old Disney friends" initiative).

Arrive they did! And - wow! How wonderful to see someone ...

... and Branly is disconcerting is because the British collection is curated with an underlying mission statement that includes itself , so that ancient and pre-historic Europe, and especially a legacy on British soil, is represented in the same way as the rest of the world's cultures.

... exciting, too. The streets were narrow with cobblestones and I could pictures men riding around them on their horses! I went into this beautiful garden that is a ruined church of Christopher Wren's (architect of St. Paul's) and after it burnt down it was made into this garden. You can see from my pictures how beautiful and English it is. Next, I went to the National Portrait Gallery. I was so exhausted by this time that I was worried I might collapse ...

... about 4 hours just walking up and down the aisles. Its mind blowing. Clothes here are really cheap....amazingly so, however fresh veges and meat are so unbelievably expensive. We have had NZ lamb a couple of times and I swear it was so much better than the stuff you buy at home. Its like they export all the good quality meant overseas and the kiwis get the second grade. We got our flight to London and arrived about 9.30pm London time (2 hours behind Athens) we caught the tube to our Hostel and after getting lost and being directed by 2 aussies we finally found it and pretty much just crashed out. The sky was filled with sunshine and big, benevolent cumulus clouds--the perfect backdrop for our first afternoon of adventures abroad.
