We went back and forth on what to do today. Ultimately we decided to take a trip out to a small German town called Wandlitz. It was supposed to have a nice lake and also a large forest. We like exploring cities but having country time is just as important to us. We lucked out with our choice of an outdoorsy trip because the weather was sunny and …

Merry Christmas! Thank you to everyone who wrote to us or kept us in their thoughts today. It is hard to be away from family and regular Christmas things this year but we will be home next year : )

... under the World Clock. This is a place that all Berliners know, so it's easy to converge there. Adrian has been out to Australia several times as an exchange student and has stayed with us on occasion, so it was nice to catch up. We went to a eatery that he knew of and this is where I spotted these Asian guys order a metre of beer. A one metre long serving tray with 200 ml glasses of beer lined up. It looks very impressive ...

Hotel right off main Kurfürstendamm, heart of the shopping, so we grabbed a hop on/off bus to get our bearings before two days of walking. Everyone drives Mercedes, tops down! Even taxis are often Mercs. Did the driveby of the many embassies, stunning architecture unique to each. Russia had about two blocks to itself. The Reich parliament, Dom cathedral and Museum island Returned to the Potsdamer platz, home to ...
