Being renovated & the sections that have been completed are great! Fanastic location 1 km walk from the train station & easy to find & right in the heart of the old town surrounded by restaurants

I had already stayed at Lybeer twice before and I must say: this was the best time! The renovations have had a very positive impact on the overal look & feel of the place. Still not finished (mid-2013) but the new rooms really look amazing, I don't know of any other hostel with such nice rooms. They told me the old kitchen is going to be replaced soon as well. People seem to be having problems with the staircase but you have to be aware of the fact that you're staying in the city centre of medieval Bruges! This is how ALL stairs in houses in the city centre look like. So get over it people! I posted some pics of the new rooms, they're a 100% different compared to how the place looked just a few months back. Would definitely stay here again, staff is also very nice and welcoming and they are really working hard to turn this building into a beauty so give them a break!

Don't worry a bit about the renovations. The beds and rooms are clean and the common room a great place to hang out

Merinda and I next caught the train from Amsterdam to Bruges. After dropping off our bags at the hostel we went to join a walking tour which was to begin at 12pm from another hostel. At about 12.10pm someone from the hostel came out to say that the staff from the tour company had quit and there would be no tour... so that was an interesting way to …

Early start - up at 4.30am - my lovely brother Stephen & his wife Michelle dropped me to the Birmingham airport 30 minutes away for a 6.25am flight on Brussels Airline. It was a quick 1 hour flight and I arrived at 8.25am ( Belgium time)

Left paris yesterday morning. Honestly, overall, I can't say I had a good time in paris; it was probably the low point of the trip. I think if you're with someone, it's probably great, but as a single guy I didn't like it all that much. Seeing loving couples embracing everywhere all over the most romantic place on earth isn't that cool when you're …

One of the reasons I stayed in this hostel was that it advertised a free breakfast. I was not disappointed. It wasn't really a hot breakfast, but there was toast, drinks, some kind of sugary bread, and sandwich food. Sandwich food meant I made a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. I really don't spend much on food. I've found that a sandwich for …

The train service in Europe is really fantastic. I'd say they are smoother than riding in an airplane. You can barely feel that you are moving. All of the engines are electric too, even on the freight trains. Some have two levels, but ours was only a single level. There is of course, first class and second class, but I can't tell much of a …
