Over the border into the US of A and immediately everything is nice and clean. Arrived in San Diego about 5pm Sunday 29th July, got into Lucky D's hostel dumped our stuff then headed out to see the Lee Scratch Perry gig. Its a bit weird going to clubs with air-con, no sweaty bodies around. Had a right good night on the Budweisers, Lee Scratch Perry was on great form but not as much of his usual patter going down. He must have had a big night previously in LA. Really good to see the wee cutie ...
San Diego, California, United States freeandeasyI have now offically started my Trek America tour! Thanks to STA not telling me that the tour leaves form a hotel and doesn't do a pick-up service I had to set out at 5.30 this morning to get to the hotel in time for the 7.30am start. I finally got there and met up with the other people in my group. There's 12 of us in total, there were going to be 13 but one girl got sick and had to go home. Mainly girls really with 4 lads, and all mainly english - one Oz and I'm not sure what else. I still ...

San Diego, California, United States scottbernardMany folks have asked us about our impressions of the USA after living in Mexico. Since Facebook only allows 2 line posts, and it would be too long for Amigas, I figured I'd go ahead and write a blog here. It's not really a travel blog, since we don't plan on going anywhere else right now. But for what it's worth, here it is.
Overall, we are very excited to be back in the USA. When we left over 3 years ago we were fed up with many things about the USA ...
Day 12 - San Diego, CA
Today was our first day staying put in one city for the entire day! Splendid! We were really happy about this since we really like San Diego.
Here is what we did:
- Started out by getting Mexican pastries at Panchitas Bakery. This place is amazing!!! They have nearly 100 different pastries, all homemade every morning. You get a silver platter and a set of tongs, and just grab stuff. Best ...
... tools to build a bed frame in the back of my van. I didn't have a mattress yet, so I couldn't really do much. That evening I met a mexican guy who let me stay at his driveway and let me use his bathroom and his kitchen. Thanks for that, it helped a lot. Especially since all the couchsurfers in the region weren't able to answer me or give me a couch. So I started to make my van a campervan. I got a mattress for 20 bucks which looks like new and I built ...
