Free day in Saigon and travel day to Bangkok

Where did we leave off? We had a free day in Ho Chi Mihn City. Woke up around 7 and ate breakfast around 7 45. Ended up going to the market around 9 30 or so. Pretty neat. Just a big building with anything and everything that you could want. We walked in and it was in the food section. They had fresh shrimp and all other kinds of fresh seafood. A shrimp jumped out of the tub while we were walking by. Nate and I were both in the market for a new watch, so we walked around a bit and found a pla...

Bangkok

Hello everyone! Where did i leave off? So after my last blog, we headed out for dinner. Thai food in Bangkok. It was pretty darn good. I got the red curry. Never had it before but i'm a fan. After that nate and I wanted to go and grab a beer somewhere, so we went to the English pub, Duke of Wellington. Not a bad pub, overpriced but what can ya do? They had some live music, two guys trying to cover english songs. Somewhat entertaining. After that we came back to the hostel and went to bed. Yes...

Thailand last few days

So the last time I left off I was in Hua Hin. After I left the coffee shop, Nate and I decided we wanted seafood for dinner, so we walked down towards the beach and the row of waterfront seafood places. Just as we went into the place, it started to rain a little bit. Go figure, we want to eat seafood on the waterfront patio and it starts to rain. So we sat under the roof area. The entire deck was open and just a roof over about 1/2 of it. The rain only lasted about 10 min. and it was pretty l...

Day 25: Arriving in Thailand

After another enjoyable flight with Qatar airways, I arrived in Bangkok early in the morning. After picking up my rucksack from the baggage claim, I went to exchange some money, while the czech girls went outside for a cigarette. They said they would be outside by the exit and at the time, I thought it would be pretty easy to find them again. After exchanging my money, I soon realised that an International airport has serveral exits, spaced widely apart. After walking around the airport for t...

Day 26

Over the next few days, I explored Bangkok and saw what it had to offer. What it had to offer was a massive dirty concrete jungle that smelt of open sewage wherever you went. Add 35 degree heat into the mix and you can imagine how gross it is. However, the atmosphere had a real buzz and it's dirt cheap. Every night there is also a night market, which runs all the way down the road from the hostel to Patpong, which is one of Bangkoks main areas for nightlife. Most of the stalls sold clothes, f...

Day 29: My birthday in Bangkok

On my birthday, I wanted to see the temples around Bankgkok. A friend of the couple in my room, called Mary, also wanted to go, so we headed out together. We got a boat ride up the river to the main temple in Bangkok, called Wat Po. The temples were really impressive. The main temple had the biggest staue of Buddha in Bangkok. It was a huge staue of a golden Buddah lying down. After visiting the temples, we headed to the Palace. On the way, we got a sandwich in a shop while waiting for some r...

Day 31: Breaking free of Bangkok

After one more day in Bangkok, I decided I needed to hit the beach. One week in Bangkok was way too long, three or four days max is all you need. On Friday night, I booked my train ticket to Phuket. Booking my ticket the night before I wanted to leave wasn't the wisest idea i'd ever had and found out the consequences when I got to the train station. I wanted to book a 'first calss sleeper', which was a good cabin where you got your own bed and the best way to travel at night for eleven hours....
