... br> We then reached the famous Chain Bridge over the Danube and crossed, stopping under Buda castle, From there, we headed north along the river bank on the Buda side for a brief view of the new parliament buildings gleaming in the afternoon sunlight.

The buildings in Budapest are very beautiful and the city reminds us of Madrid. Back over the Chain Bridge on the Pest side is the Gresham Palace (now the Four Seasons Hotel) ...

Still buzzing from our last second triumph at Claustrophilia, Kim and I walked to Cafe Eklectica only to find it was now derelict. When I had visited Budapest before, I had eaten an awesome dish of braised beef cheeks, whilst being plied with Schnapps. I had been hoping for a repeat performance, but it was not to be. We had a good night until Gem and I had a big fight over a lot of ...

    ...TO BUDAPEST.

We basically won our field trip day. We woke up at the crack of dawn, all made it to our train in time, didn't lose anyone in Hungary, and all made our train back to Vienna unscathed. A miracle.

Budapest was fantastic. We collectively decided to go on a biking tour of the city, which turned out to be a perfect idea. We saw more in four hours on the bikes and with our tour guide than we would have ever been able to on foot.
