Paulino Amarante 76 Puerto Iguazu, Province of Misiones, Litoral, Argentina, 3757-420-338
So on the 9th of October, I hopped on a double-decker bus with my friends Sammie, Lily, Maarja, Olivia, and Jillian, and took a 22-hour bus ride to the northeast corner of Argentina, up by Paraguay and Brazil. The bus was all right-- a very long ride, and the only aid I found was a ton of Dramamine. We travelled with a busload of Argentines up to Iguazu Falls, the 2nd largest in the world (the largest are in Africa-- Victoria Falls, I think?... don't quote me on that). They dropped us off at ...
Puerto Iguazu, Litoral, Argentina mlbierleMario, Tihuana sounds like it might be fun ;) ? Note to self: must go there next time in Mexico! Anyway back in Argentina.... I{ve spent the last couple of days visiting both sides of the famous Iguazu falls (Brazilian and Argentinian). I{m staying in Puerto Iguazu (Los Helechos hotel) and although this is clearly the town to come to and book your tour to the falls, it{s not at all tacky or in your face like you would expect like a lot of places that live off tourism... infact it{s quite laid...
Puerto Iguazu, Litoral, Argentina tiggerbird... Seite) hatte.
... of glances. The real targets, apparently, were cross-border shoppers, not an unfamiliar concept to us Canadians, except instead of returning from Minot with a carton of $4 beer, several cheap casino t-shirts and yet another 14 decks of previously used playing cards, the smuggler’s haul here consisted mainly of cheap shoes, gaudy Tupperware and ill-fitting jeans.
Curiously disturbing aside: Bearing in mind that I have done no actual research and have no hard ...
... for the sake of our stomachs and fellow passengers, we had decided to pass on lunch that day!
All that really remains to be said about Iguazu is, if you are ever in South America you have to come here. It's a pain to get to but the effort will be rewarded a thousand times over by the experience.
On our final day in the area, we visited the world's largest hydro-electric dam at a place called Itaipu about 30km north of the falls ...
... my way to my room. I was most upset, however, when passing the pool I saw that it had all been roped off. Having a pool was one of the main attractions for me, and it was boiling hot outside. Grrr. Once I`d sorted my stuff out I had a shower in the spotless and delightful bathroom, then went back to reception to enquire about trips to the falls and the location of the nearest cash point. Here I encountered an American guy called Troy, and we decided to go and get a late ...
Puerto Iguazu, Argentina alastair6... every 10 min but it was Sunday night and later so I had to wait an hour. At least a friendly Brazilian started waiting with me otherwise I'd had given up and flagged down a taxi -- which on hindsight I should have done.
After getting back quite late and not really eating lunch I was famished. So when I walked by a Churascaria I didn't care about the higher price. It ...
Foz de Iguacu, State of Parana, Brazil terredeshommes... so we also got served some bland inedible food and iced red wine (?!).
We were also offered some champagne or whisky just before we arrived, which we turned down based on their previous efforts!
When we got to Puerto Iguacu we were reunited with our baggage, strapped up and walked to our ...
... sand and without a cloud in the sky we couldn't really complain...
The Rio del Plata (the wide river separating Argentina & Uruguay) is almost totally brown, so there was no chance of us going for a ...
