      Ok place

This is actually a hostel. I don't know why they call themselves a hotel when it is pretty clear that it's a hostel. It was really cheap and I needed a place to stay for a night so we can take the place from LAX the next morning. On the up side, the rooms that they provided are huge. There are 2 rooms and a bathroom. One room has a TV and a dirty couch. The other has a clean looking bed. It was very basic. As a "hotel" standard, it is pretty bad, but as a "hostel" standard it was ok. I've been to better and I've been to worse.

Hotel is cheap, ideal for backpackers and offers tons of great things: heated pool, free breakfast, free dinner, free coffee and popcorn, free shuttle from and to the airport, free wifi and I am sure I forgot something. I read a lot of complies on the internet, mainly about bad behaving of staff, but I don't have such an experience. On the contrary: everybody were just helpful and nice to me. Ok, they are not servile, but I don't like that behaviour anyway. I can recommend if you don't expect 5 star accomodation, but rather family style run bussiness with a nice and vivid atmosphere.

      Disgusting place.

      Reviewed Jul 17, 2012
by (5 reviews) Newcastle , Australia Flag of Australia

This place was absolutely appalling. I booked a dorm bed here as I had just arrived from australia and had a 12 hour layover during the day before flying to Mexico. I just wanted somewhere to chill out and have a shower and maybe head to the beach for a bit.

First of all its in a pretty dodgy neighborhood. The taxi driver was quizzing me on why a 'young lady' would stay in such a bad neighbourhood. It didn't seem to bad to walk around during the day, you tell it was poorer, but okay I day light hours. I wouldn't have ventured out at night on my own though.

The room was disgustingly dirty. The door was wide open when I arrived, and my bed had been slept on. The shower was filthy. I figured I'd just bail for the day and spend as little time there as possible. I am pretty sure most of the people staying there are locals, and very dodgy ones at that.

I wanted to lock my gear up in one of the security lockers, but there were none free. I was almost certain that my bag would be gone by the time I got back from the beach.

Most of this could have probably been forgiven if the staff were friendly. They were the rudest, obnoxious and unhelpful people I have ever met. The outwardly mocked a non English speaking girl in front of everyone because they couldn't understand what she was saying and she was trying her hardest to communicate in English. They provided absolutely now assistance to any of the genuine travellers on how to get around.

I am just astounded this place exists. I have traveled far and wide in this world and this wins the award for the worst hostel ever, by a mile.

Chosen for the basis of proximity to the airport, delivered. Excellent free shuttle to and from airport.
Really cheap, nice open common area
Inglewood is somewhat far away from central LA but has enough there for a quick stopover.
Rooms were clean but extremely basic. Really dilapidated bathroom and an odd smell. No free breakfast or dinner available as advertised. Good if you are stopping over but not for anything more.

Worst place to stay! Treat Employees like CRAP!!

      from

First, they are not going to check you in if you are from California. This place is VERY Unprofessional!! After a large ordeal I FINALLY was checked in. The room had a bad odor, and I changed rooms TWICE to get a decent one. Unprofessional does not even sum up what I feel. I started speaking to the guy at the front desk, seems guests are not the only ones unhappy, he showed me a website set up by employees fighting against the hotel because of the way they are treated. Its slave labor there. They don't get paid!!!!! This is a horrible, poorly run excuse of a hotel. I would not recommend it to anyone. If you do not believe me, check out that website. It has copies of statements written by employees of the LA Adventurer Hotel!

      Oeps

      from

exactly: the worst hotel ever. When we arrived the rain fall down in the room on several places. It stinks like a copple of dogs lived there for some weeks. We got another room and that was better: only two places where the water fell down. but it is a fact: you never forget this hotel. The staff was kindly and i liked the food

      Strange Experience

      from

Oh Dear! If only I could explain. It was terrible which makes me look back on how funny it even was. I could go back and laugh at the time I spent there. And actually say that it was so terrible that I have great memories now and wish I could go back again. Does this even make sense??? I'm speachless.

      ***packers Paradise Hostel

      from

If you enjoy being propositioned by hookers as you exit the premises, being awaked by multiple police sirens and the snores of your 19 roommates at night, wading through cigarette butts and half-empty beer cups to reach your room, and treated extremely rudely by staff as you wait next to racks of butt-shot postcards by all means spend a night in Paradise. Worst hostel I've ever stayed at.

      Not what I imagined

      from

I was VERY excited about my trip to LA. I researched the Adventurer and was quite impressed with what I saw online. I was scheduled to stay at the Adventurer for 8 days. WELL, when I arrived and checked in, I thought the Adventurer was pretty cool. When I got to my room I noticed the old EXTREMELY worn down furniture and the missing refrigerator. I called the front desk to inquire about getting a fridge in my room and they advised that it wasn't there because the guy before me STOLE IT. I decided to change rooms. The second room was worse than the first. Same worn and dingy sofas, and old bathroom. I was afraid to take a shower in there. I saw baby roaches in the bathroom as well!!! My remote to my tv wasn't working and when I went to front desk to get batteries they didn't have any and told me to go to the gift shop (a table with items that have been there forever and covered in dust). The woman at the giftshop told me to go to the front desk for batteries. I never got my batteries. Also I wasn't happy with the Rule to not having visitors after 10pm. (I was there visiting friends and they came over from time to time and possibly wanted to stay the night). I checked out 2 days later and was able to get my money because I had paid with cash. While leaving, I saw a family climbing out of the back window coming out of their room!! (I have no idea why). I felt much safer staying in a chain hotel closer to the airport. I won't stay here and if you're considering, think twice because it is not all it seems online. GOOD LUCK!

      Bad neighborhood+crap mangement

      from

We were robbed at gun point directly across the Hotel. This black man asked me and my wife if we wanted to buy crack! We said no thanks and then he pulled a gun and demanded our money. When we called the police they said this happens quite often in Inglewood. The hotel is in pretty bad shape. The neighborhood is very poor and gunfire can be heard at night. The manager said "Oh that's never happended before!" Frank Sharma then asked us when are you going to pay the rent! We had already paid for our rooms in advance. There was a big computer error...Don't stay here!

      I had so much fun!

      from

I had so much fun at the Adventurer Inn! The people that work there are very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant! The food and drinks are great prices too! I met lots of friends while staying there just for the weekend. 2 bars and a nice restaurant. It is a place to go to with friends and not so much for families.

      I loved it

      from

I love the Adventurer Inn. I met soo mant new people. The suroundings are great. 2 bars, a pool and a restraunt. You can take a bus to beach or the mall for free. This is a great place for young people, not families!!!

      Sleazy!!!!!

      from

I had the same experience as the previous reviewer. I was sooo excited to go to LA and after checking out the Adventurer at their website I thought I had found the perfect hotel for the perfect vacation. It looked so beautiful in the pictures and all the amenities seemed to make it an outstanding place to stay. The lobby was quite nice (as pictured in the website). The pool area was fairly nice too (the pool was open). The small restaurant/lounge was really quite beautiful (I took half a roll of film just of that). My room was not very nice nor were the rooms I peeked into (although they are good sized). But the big problem wasn't the upkeep of the hotel. It was the way the hotel was run. They cater to a group of backpackers, much like a youth hostel. Some of the employees were themselves backpackers paying for their bunks by working. The lack of professionalism was everywhere. If you are a kid looking for a party without supervision this might be a great place to stay (although I wouldn't want my kids staying there). There were fights the night I was there also. Drunks were screaming outside my room while looking for a good place to throw up. On top of that, the neighborhood is also dangerous. So that wraps it up. You don't feel comfortable in the hotel with the drunken, immature kids and dirty old men that seem to dominate the landscape within the hotel gates and you don't feel comfortable going outside the gates. If there is a word to sum it all up, it has to be SLEAZY!!!

      Review of the Adventurer Hotel

      from

The Adventurer Hotel is advertised, indeed, featured at the OneTravel.com website as a family oriented hotel that provides you with a suite for less than what you would pay at other hotels for a single room. The hotel also advertises that it has a swimming pool and a refrigerator in every room. In actuality and for no apparent reason, the swimming pool is not open and there was no refrigerator in the room in which I stayed with my son. There is loud music that doesn't stop until midnight, and the last night when I was there, a fight broke out and the police were called at about 3:00 am in the morning. The police indicated that this was not an uncommon occurrence at the Adventurer. While some efforts have been made to refurbish the old place, the rooms are clearly showing their age. The rooms do have phones, but guests are required to leave a $10 deposit in order to have the phone turned on. One of the worst things about my stay was that the cost of my stay had been deducted from my account before I arrived, which meant that I would not be able to easily transfer to another hotel. Yes, I could have paid double, but I shouldn't have been placed in that position. The hotel should definitely not be featured on any family travel website. I was very disappointed. In addition to not being particularly friendly, the staff was not particularly competent. While fully payment had already been deducted, the receptionist initially said that he had no record of my reservation and wanted to know my confirmation number which had, for reasons I cannot explain, not been included on the reservation printout that I had been given. I reiterate that I was very disappointed.

Today was actually a beautiful day. Compared to the rainy last two days, this was nice. It was warm and cloudless sky. We checked out and drove through the strip and said our goodbyes to Vegas. We drove for nearly 4 hours back to LA and got caught up in midday traffic. LA traffic is the worst. Luckily we were using Waze and were able to cut through …
