So I have the craziest story about Madrid. There was guy from Australia, David, who I met in Athens at a hostel after our tour ended and my mom flew home. We hung out some but didn't keep in touch at all, no email or anything. We split ways at the airport, he took a flight to Sweden or something and I went to Scotland. So after traveling Scotland, England, Spain, Portugal, and going back to Spain, nearly a month and a half, I'm at this club with Emine from Cyprus and with a guy we just met fr...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands andresantoSo here we are in beautiful Madrid. Today is our third day here, and we´re finally adjusted. We stayed the first two nights at a place called Los Amigos Backpackers Hostel, which was a dorm style hostel with 6 people per room. It was clean, and a great place to meet people, but we like having our own space, and not having to lock up our stuff. So today we switched to a hostel right up the street called Hostel Conchita II, at Calle Campoamanes, 10. Fourth floor. Thank god there´s an elevator. ...
Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands carleenreneeHey all, so yesterday I left my small cocoon of Lauterbrunnen and head out to the big city - Luzern. And what a city it was amazing I took the boat down lake Luzern stopping in the small town of Weggis, where they where having a great street fair. Then I spent some time exploring Luzern which is just a magical city. Lucky for me and my credit card the shops where all closed because it was Sunday, but I no doubt still enjoyed the city. I spent last night in jail - the jail hotel that is. The p...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands cora_explorerStill getting used to co-ed bathrooms but really it's not that big of a deal. We sat with a girl from England at breakfast and she told us about a market in a non-touristy part of Madrid. Sounded good! Markets are awesome. We got off the metro stop and then it was time to whip out my Spanish skills. I could ask questions and understood everything they said! Way to go high school skills haha. The market was HUGE! There was meat everywhere, fruits and veggies. We got water there for sooooo che...
Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands danceraOk, so my camera has run out of batteries so i don't have any more photo's which is alright cause i did see them in real life, lol. This is when my trip calms down a bit, cause i'm really tired lol. I see the main sigts in Sevilla over the next two days and of course go out for more Tapas that night with Peter and he's new found friends (the ones he had been waiting for in Granada but there car broke down). We go for drinks till late and in the next day I head for Madrid. Before i go i do see...
Seville, Spain doug.creightonWe had a wonderful afternoon lounging by the pool at our spectacular hotel. We all had mojitos and Edie and I split a smoked salmon and pasta salad that was excellent. While I think she was "drunk" on the amazingness of the 5 star hotel and the day in the heat, and pool, and the 2 mojitos, when I said we had to thank Jeff (Andrew´s brother) for the hotel, Edie´s response was definitely, "yeah, I know I haven´t met him, but tell him I love him and if he were here he would certainly be getting ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands dzarrenThe other evening, after checking in and dumping our stuff, we went to a bar called Stop Madrid that Edie found in her guidebook. The book said it had amazing sangria and it was no lie. We had a couple tapas and a few pitchers of Sangria and everyone was back to being in a better mood. We headed back around 8pm so that Andrew could pick up his laundry and after a little more computer time, Andrew had found our bar for the evening. We went off in the direction of the bar and in search of a pla...
Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands dzarrenNote: Edie can`t put the straw in the hole. Note 2: I am pretty sure that Andrew is still bi-suited. We went to the Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofia today. Both Andrew and Edie came with me. So cool! The Guernica is amazing, although unfortunately they don`t let you get too close to it. It was also nice to walk around with them and show them the artists I like and some of the ones I hate. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and it definitely put me in a good mood. They even had a be...
