Hola Madrid

A travel blog entry by rodalva93

Sooo I finally made it too Madrid about 4 hours behind schedule because Air Canada is terrible, we didīnt have clearance to land so we flew around in circles for an hour before we were told to go to Barcelona and wait an hour to refuel etc. It was a load of bull. Anyways first getting into Madrid there is a TON of graffiti everywhere! Like it …

When I got to Toledo Tuesday morning it was pouring. By the time I walked the mile or so from the train station up the hill to the city my feet were soaked. Toledo is pretty big and the old part of town is situated up on a hill, still mostly surrounded by an original wall. I first went to the main cathedral-it is one of the more impressive …

I took a 32 euro ($43) taxi to the airport because the 2 euro bus wouldnt get me to the airport until only 30 minutes before my flight and I didnt want my seat given away. Turns out...my flight was delayed 40 minutes! FU...DGE! But it could have been A LOT worse than "wasting" $40. At 5pm airport workers all around Spain went on strike-I think the …

Arrived in Madrid day before yesterday (Thurs) after our detour in Philadelphia. We are loving the city - lovely to walk around. Itīs much cleaner and airier than most of the other big cities that Iīve seen. And to boot, the metro system is GORGEOUS and efficient. Spotless with a nice sign announcing that your train is 2 minutes away (and it …

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Facility was, I got what I expected out of a hostel.

Rooms were clean, I had a 2 person room that had a locker to store my things during the day. There was a kitchen that had a free continental breakfast which helped kick off the day. Overall, the location was amazing, for the price of my stay. Situated just steps from the Opera metro station, and right on one of the main walking strips of Madrid, line with shops and restaurants, I couldn't complain.
