Kerry does Cuzco - Part 1

Part 1.
Kerry finally decided to visit Cuzco after a messy divorce from her husband of four years. She left Danny with her sister Jane for the duration of her trip. Jane was unmarried and was more than happy to have an extra person in the house.
Kerry briefly studied the Inca empire during the second year of her arts degree. It had always intrigued her and she often thought how she'd one day like to visit the ancient Inca capital. Now the divorce was finalised she was free to travel, ...

Kerry does Cuzco - Part 2

Part 2

It wasn't until after her third glass of wine that Kerry headed back to the hotel from the restaurant. She was glad to be wearing flat soled shoes. The cobbled streets would have been hard to navigate in heals.

Turning one tight corner after another Kerry became a little concerned that she had lost her bearings. Off the main streets the alleys were narrow and not so well lit. She had been warned against walking these at night.

Several Peruvian couples past Kerry w...

cusco, plenty of gringos

rob-after a massively enjoyable twelve and a half hour journey on a bus that was last serviced in 1912 i think we arrived late doors in cusco, home of the inca empire and immense amounts of ****** tourist souveneirs, if i ever see a llama hat or macchu picchu postcards again it will be too soon!!! we bowled up to hostel loki hoping to get a bed-we got the last two-very lucky!!within ten mins of arriving we were tucking into the weekly bbq provided at the hostel-all the meat you can see of plu...

Peru - Cusco

Hi guys!!! Just want to clear things up before we move on to the next instalment. We didn't actually hate Bolivia, contrary to popular belief and feedback from part 3. I mean, we wouldn't have stayed in La Paz for 2 weeks if we didn't like it. It was just different and I feel I gave an honest description of it. It's pretty dirty! But still fun. Still fun :) Well, unfortunately :) the time finally came to leave Bolivia. How the hell did we stay that long in that place??? I reckon it was the Lo...

Peru - Lima

Time to go to Lima. Now, let me tell you this. Bus duration from Cusco to Lima = 21 hours. Contrary to the fact that I think Lonely Planet are liars and blow the "Danger and Annoyances" section WAAAAYYY out of proportion, we were not about to risk and overnight bus journey where we would possibly be hijacked. That and we really just didn't want to be on a bus for that long again!! So we got a flight for 90 euro which meant we get to Lima at a nice time and check into our hostel at a reasonabl...

Cusco & the Sacred Valley

Hello from Cusco. Cusco's a really nice town, especially if you can deal with the minor annoyances that come with it (due to its being such a tourist center). For example, lots of restaurants have someone standing outside trying to get you to eat at his or her restaurant. Lots of people also standing on the street yelling "massages." Just generally, lots of people (including kids) trying to sell you stuff (paintings, postcards, etc.). One thing interesting, which I think is more for locals, i...

Museo Larco

Back in Lima now and was suffering a little bit of um, travellers sickness mixed with home sickness. Needless to say, the combination of that plus a couple nights of zero sleep... I am EXHAUSTED. Went to bed last night at 6 after watching 2 hours of American television, and didn`t wake up until 830 this morning. Today I went to Museo Larco. It`s famous for its impressive collection of ceramics stacked in rows upon rows (over 55,000 pots), the exhibits of silver and gold and textiles made from...

Cusco

My Colca Canyon Trekking has left me with very sore knees.I am walking with a very noticeable limp. I arrive at the Loki Backpackers Hostel in Cusco only to discover that it is at the top of a very step hill (could be a line in an Alanis Morissette song ). I only manage short tours around Cusco before my knees make me return to the hostel which because of the steep steps is something I only want to do once a day. I spend as much time as I can in bed trying to rest my knees. After three days m...

No Gracias!

Well one more overnight bus down, many more to go, we arrived in Cuzco (aka Cusco aka Qosqo) and checked into the Loki backpackers hostal. This is an awesome place, free internet, tea, coffee, real hot showers, cheap drinks, the best view in town, and a real good English breakfast (even though they call it Irish). First on the agenda was solving the sandy camera problem. Some online research suggested banging it on a hard surface and we thought why not? No luck there. Then we stopped by a few...

Se troviamo le forze!!

Il seguito della giornata a Puno e' stata quasi ridicola. Ero a pezzi.
