... having been blocked off to traffic by great cement breezeblocks and reels of barbed wire for the majority of the year, was stormed in mid April by a frenzied gang of balaclava-wearing youths brandishing blades to rid the Square of its tents and banners, and unblock the diversions for traffic to recommence it's old flow through the centre of town. Friends passing through the square at that time came away with a pocketful of fired blanks.
