Duck billed Platypus

Last night we went to The Estuary Country Hotel. Supper was very nice, but the dinig room was empty, with only us booked, so the staff just lounging around. Lovely place though. Today we spent at the Wild Coast Casino. We had the massive breakfast buffet, so we needed nothing else to eat until supper! We then caught the complimentary 'taxi' to the river. Let me tell you, this chap would give Jenson Button a run for his money! He raced through mango trees ...

Jack Russell

That bloody jack Russell kept us up till midnight barking at the neighbours dogs. It had a massive scrap at the gate, which luckily woke up the owner's daughter. Then peace reined in the land, 'till morning....then bark bark bark again. When we got out to the car, there was dog **** everywhere. The daughters husband commented that if his mother-in-law saw it, she would murder him. Having breifly sympathised with him knowing what that feels like, i thought I might save his ...

Bloody dogs

... Zulu. This evening we went to Wild Coast Casino. We wern't even married, the last time we were there! Place hasn't changed much. We laughed, as we couldn't even afford a burger, the last time. This time, we had the best steak we have had in years! We came back to the B&B, to find all the comunal areas locked up like a prison! Straight to our room it was, to the tv........and the Jack Russell......that won't make it to tommorrow, at this rate.

Dreaming of a hot Christmas

(Jim) It is hard to get firmly into the Christmas mindset when the weather is sunny and mid-80s (or high 20s centigrade, as temperature is reckoned here). After a long day on the beach, remembering to e-mail Santa Claus with information on desired gifts is very much counter-intuitive. Walking around a mall in swim trunks listening to Christmas music is similarly confusing. A group of pre-teen boys from the local villages ...

Head case

(Jim) I learned to body surf at Jones Beach on Long Island, near New York City. The waves there are of modest size by West Coast or Hawaiian standards. Still, the first time I ran out directly into the path of a wave I got thoroughly pretzeled and practically crawled out of the water. That was years ago, and I'd largely forgotten that experience of the awesome power of water. I've been body surfing with the kids these last few days ...

... beaten up by the tiniest of virus in just a couple of hours. It sneaks up on you and multiplies and then it gets you down on your knees. Well, I've got my mind back and I'm thinking straight again. That's something. And with one month to go, and everything happening for a reason, I'll use this afternoon to map out the next four weeks.

Banana Beach

... beach and he just unlocked it and didn't ask for the tokens! The water was sooooo cold that I only stayed in for about 5 minutes, Nadine refused to get in at all, Charlotte turned purple but Sarah managed to do 20 lengths, fair play! We then spent an hour drinking bottomless hot chocolate in a coffee shop attempting to get warm. The bus turned up about 9 and we headed for our next hostel; Banana Beach. Again we were the only people there!

Surfing Saga and Shopping!

Hello from Jeffrey's Bay! I'm sorry this has taken so long. When was the last update? Swakopmund? Well, we are having a wonderful time. So wonderful in fact that Paul is out surfing for the first time, and I may have to cut this short as I'd really like to go watch. Don't worry, I will also get out there eventually, but the last several days the surf has been so massive...I wouldn't want to be a beginner out there ...

Cycling, Swimming, Climbing, and Kloofing

... semisleep state. I watched the fluffy lazy clouds intermittantly shade the sun then let my eyes fall on the crystal cascading waterfall listening to the peaceful birdsong. After a full day of cycling, climbing, swimming and walking, I thought that I would have no troubles falling to sleep. But kept company by the blaze of the shooting stars, I let my eyes explore the cosmos until the wee hours of the morn...Twinkle Twinkle Lekker Star...How I wonder what you are....
