Wir sind gut in Whitehorse angekommen - nach dem frühen Aufstehen und dem tränenreichen Abschied von unseren Familien am Flughafen hatten wir 9,5 Std. Zeit ein wenig zu schlafen und uns ein bißchen auszuruhen! Das Unterhaltungsprogramm ließ leider zu wünschen übrig - 2 von 3 Filmen haben wir schon gesehen :-)

... das alles im Haus ist, aber dafür ist die Hütte warm und ich hab die nur für mich :o)
Im Moment sitze ich aber sowieso noch im Wohnzimmer und wir spielen wohl gleich noch irgendwelche lustigen Brett- und Kartenspiele. Einfach voll nett hier (zwei Mädels aus Irland, zwei Australier, ein paar Japaner und Luke... und Nancy)... Morgen wird entspannt...

... quick loop around downtown found Strickland Street. Where we use dot live. I don't remember it being so close to downtown or the river. Amazing how a child's perception is so different in adulthood. We settled into Walmart parking lot for the evening. Can't wait to do more exploring tomorrow. First evening of rain, wet as we pulled into Whitehorse hope it doesn't interfere with sightseeing tomorrow. Wildlife count for the day - Bears 5, Bison ...

... Some very nice gentlemen stopped and got our road service info and called us a tow truck when they drove into Whitehorse...we were in an area where there was no cell service. It took a couple of hours for a tow truck to show up (we had in the mean time unhooked the camper and Allison and I drove 30 miles into town to make sure they had called since there was no way of knowing, we passed the tow truck just as we hit the city limits, so I filled up ...

... those days, a new boom came about in 1942 and Whitehorse was transformed back into a tent metropolis crowded with US Army guys who were building the Alaska Highway. Today, it boasts a population of 23,276 and certainly provides all that the community needs - education, healthcare, retail, arts, culture and more.



As far as touring around went, we saw the SS Klondike II, which was the largest sternwheeler on the upper Yukon River. It was built in Whitehorse in 1929 ...
