    ... as is
our way we set off on what turned out to be a five hour walk to the top of a
    mountain and back.

The first four kilometers was up what I will call the 37
corner path. The route was along an old road that wound its way through 37
corners up to the top of the cliff. From here we took an arbitrary turnoff and
ended up walking for another hour until we arrived in a little mountain village
called Les Granges. Here we stopped for a drink before heading down ...

There was a section of trail today that allowed hikers to get through a pass in one of two ways, those being up through a boulder field, climbing in the traditional way, or to navigate the sheer rock face by way of ...

... for a while with a cool drink at the chalet before heading back town in the cable car. Getting later into the afternoon by now, so thoughts and discussion turning towards what to do for dinner. I haven’t been overly inspired by local restaurant options (lots of fondue, tartiflette), so Mitch came up with fantastic do-it-ourselves option (spaetzle from the shop, cooked up with bacon, onion, cheese and crème fraiche – all ...

... indoor pool and common games area.

However, when they say self contained they really mean it – Nothing in the place except the furniture, beds etc… We had linen and towels but had to make the beds ourselves. No washing up detergent, tea/coffee/sugar, and finally no toilet paper!! So a big shopping list for tonight, and making do with tissues for the toilet in the meantime.

Late to bed (must have been about 10.30 or 11) ...
