    So to Sydney. Although Sydney too has its own CBD it's a very different city to Brisbane. Surrounding the obligatory pack of skyscraping office blocks are streets of early and mid-20th century brick built buildings - as our hosts say it is altogether a grittier city than other Australian cities and it is a relief to be somewhere that isn't quite so pristine as the mown lawns of Stradbroke Island or the newness of Brisbane.
