the joys of travelling ?!?

... pesos and doesn't have change. So I run into a store and buy as little as possible and beg as much as possible (in my broken Spanish) to break a hundred.

On to the bus station for a direct bus to Salta...or so we are told. The bus is leaving in 5 minutes, everyone else is on, they hand us our tickets, throw on our bags and away we go!!!

After closer inspection, we are with two different companies - one to ...

... in the hostel due to this. Our first morning a MARCHING BAND decided to pass by the hostel at 9 am which believe me was not funny.

Jujuy continued to be as friendly and beautiful as all the other Argentine citys we had visited. We visited the Museo Arquelogico Provincial. The main attraction is a 3000 year old fertility goddess figure, depicted with snakes for hair and in the act of giving birth. There´s also a selection of skulls with cranial deformaities.

The Hill of Seven Colours

... very respectable hostel with big beds, fluffy pillows and nice warm showers. People come here for one reason - natural beauty. Despite the fact that I am perhaps one of the finest exponents of just such a phenomenon, I thought I would get in on the act and find out what all the fuss was about. And what did I find out? There aint enough fuss. Its amazing around the town. I headed off on a tour, me and three Argentinians and just a smattering of ...

... well off and they didn´t have dreadlocks or stupid trousers. They called themselves artesanos.) They were really nice and very good at camping, unsurprisingly given the way they´re used to living. Day one When I got out of the tent on the first morning there was a little pig-like rodent running about the place. I think they´re Capybaras, here they called them Carpinchos. There were also tarty custard yellow and blue birds which were very ...

Jujuy (rhymes with phooey)

... day, but certainly not the hours posted outside the door. If I sound frustrated, it´s really only because I have yet to determine what people do with this five hour hole in their day. I´d like to find out so that I may follow their example and not be the crazy white lady in silly clothes running up and down the street all afternoon banging on locked doors and screaming something about coffee or capitalism or don ...

Exploring the north

Beste lezers!

Crappy weather, screw staying here

I've pretty much seen what I want to see in Bolivia now and am making haste to get to La Cumbre, Argentina to start paragliding again. I have some ground to cover and the idea is to start doing it as fast as possible. The bus from Sucre to Tarija was kind of ******. A flat tire and a gear box problem (they seem to pull spare parts out of their ass down here, its incredible how they always seem ...

San Pedro de Atacama

... for 1,350 pesos, you could get (and I did get) a quarter of a chicken and good helping of fries. The trend of waking up at ridiculous hours continued, as my first morning in San Pedro I woke up at 3:40am. At 4, a group of us were picked up for a tour of the El Tatio geyser field. It is one of the largest geyser fields in the world and also one of the highest (at an elevation of 4,300 meters, or more than 14,000 feet). We left at 4 because it ...

Tupiza to Salta (Argentina)

... was a case of the blind leading the blind! Finally we got to the correct bus and headed off to Salta. On arriving in Salta (another 4am arrival!), we got into a Hostal (Residential Elena) where the guy on duty was amazingly sweet and (after a lot of confusion) insisited that we say to the ladies the next day that we arrived at 6am, NOT 4am. This was to allow us not to pay a day´s fee for only 2 hours in bed. The hostal was very nice and had ...

:) FIN. VICTORIA
